View Full Version : Bad news for silly me
Ok i was going to reset my vapochill LS as my screen wasnt working. Pulling the plug didnt get it working so i shorted the temp pins or what i thought was the temp pins. Turns out i put jumpers on the heater pins its great living in a mad house can never hear my self think but anyway my chillcontrol board burnt out and now i cant turn the vapochill on.
Its got both red and blue lights on, is there anything that can be done to save it or do i need to look for another board and is there a way of turning the vapochill on without it?
thanks for any help with this guys
Ps the only part that smoked was the small chip in front of heater 2 pins
cheers
Pps hope the ..... and ,,, help a bit back to school i guess

You can wire the compressor directly into the mains but this will completely bypass the fuse built into the power board. If you want to go about doing that then you need to locate the two 220v lines coming out of the capacitor and connect them with the 220v leads coming into the case and make sure your case and compressor are also grounded. I'd also suggest wiring a switch inline so you don't have to remove the plug from the unit to shut it down but this is all a temporary solution.
edit: be careful with the capacitor also, you'll want to discharge it ideally by using an insulated screw driver to connect the two terminals to prevent from shocking yourself, 110v hurts enough, 220v must be quite the kick.
Humm not sure if i wont to start unwiring it thought it might be something a little easier than that like putting a paper clip in the large black plug to like jump the relay i have emailed asetek to find out about getting a new control unit plus iv been looking on here for someone selling or doing them but so far im not having much luck
cheers for reply

Can you tell me where your sentences begin and end?
Anyway, there is a way to bypass the controller by shorting some pins in the cable that connects the ccb and the transformer. You will have to look around.

We actively monitor people who are spamming to get to for sale section and remove access once such activity is detected. Please read forum rules and regulation carefully again to make sure you are not breaching it.
And as for original question of 100 post, yes. But legitimate posts.

Asetek will take forever. I don't think I have seen any chill controls in the classifieds anyway.

Go to the online Vapo shop and order u will have a new unit soon enuf..
or go to the Vapochill Forums a Ask Master-G to get the ball rolling on a order .
or emaiL Jesper Jenson at Aseteck.
if all Fails buy a custom controller from around here you will find there more fun to use anyway..i have a couple and i dont even usemy Vapochill control anymore
Although i really do like the vapochill Chill control windows program, it works well compaed to some other stuff i have used.
btw you will need a new lcd as well..shorting pins wont fix a lcd just stuff em up.
there pretty costly around $100 my last one cost to get sent to Brisbane from denmark.
If you need one ASAP to get ya unit running you can borrow mine, if you kill it i will kill you. No joke!
However running it directly off the mains is easyer

Cheers dude I did try aseteks webshop but couldnt find the board listed.
The lcd was flicking on for about 1sec then going off thought it was just a glitch.
Maybe a custom controller is the way but i will order one from asetek for now and then once i hit the 100 post mark get the custom and save the asetek for a backup

It took 3 weeks for them to get back to me....Even after the mods in the forum supposedly got it moving. I finally got a replacement about 2+ months later. I am not sure if they will warrently your ccb if that is what you are after.
No i got the vapochill second hand so im just after buying the board not sure why there not on the webshop anymore thought they used to be.
Thinking about it i would like to fit my vapochill in my u2 ufo case so getting a freeze pack controller might be a much better idea but ill wait and see how things go. could really kick myself for doing something so silly to the board but hey you live and learn
Just a little update asetek got back to me 100 euro's all in for a new board, so ill be running again soon :D i hope ;)

Wow that was pretty fast. My experience wasn't that pleasant.
Just what i was thinking i have asked them about a screen aswell because if mine is dead i might as well get one of them at the same time, unless there is another screen out there that will use the same plug ????

If I were you I would just buy an aftermarket controller if you have to buy both.
its the usb bit thats keeping with asetek for now. I think the aftermarket ones look much better really
