Hi everyone.

got some questions on thermalright ramsinks. afaik, there are 3 types, hr07, hr07 type L and type H.

I noticed for hr07 each heatpipe has it's own fins whereas hr07 type L and H, both heatpipes use the same fins for dissipation of heat.

I am using only 2 rams in alternate slots so all 3 works for me. Now the question is, is there any difference in their ability to cool rams ? I mean, eg, 1 heatpipe to 50cm2 of surface area versus 2 heatpipes for the same area.

Also does 2x type H cool better than 2x type L for 2 sticks of rams since the heatpipes and fins rise higher.?

Actually, the HR-07 has two sets of heat fins. Each heat pipe goes to it's own set of heat fins, whereas type L and type H has just one heat pipe going into one set of heat fins. So you get twice the area with the regular HR-07.

I'm sure there is a difference in cooling between the two, however slight. The question for you is do you ever plan on running more than two sticks of RAM or, if you do plan on upgrading, would you be satisfied with 2-2GB sticks versus 4-1GB sticks?

If you are only going to use 2 sticks than go with the regular HR-07, no need to bother with the single H or L unless you have clearance issues w/ your CPU HS/F in which case get the low profile.

I am planning on 2 sticks. Not that the mem controllers can handle 4.
