View Full Version : Out come on the Cryostar cpu evap
The topic went a bit quite but wandering what the outcome has been with builder getting hold of it.
I'm tempted to get it and use it on my Yorkfield QX9650. Only thing that really puts me off is the encloser, how hard would it be to change say the internal insualtion of the Chilly1 encloser used in the 2007 sprial evap kit?

I have heard a few comments about the mounting. I think the mounting is fine.
I was looking at the pics on UTI and it looks similar to the chilly mount.

Pete,
The Cryrostar encloser is junk!
The Chilly1 evap (2007) is 28mm tall, Cryrostar is 15. There in lies your issue. Just requires insulation to fill the diff. Chilly1 evap (2007) dia. is 39mm, Cryrostar is 44.5mm. Just bore 5.5mm larger- Done

I've got one sitting here..... damn thing looks so good I hate to use it ;)
I can't comment on the mount; It looks ok to me and should work fine. I haven't had any of the new style Chilly mounts. I have 4 Chilly1 evaps on the way, 2 with old style mounts and 2 with the new mounts, they should be here Monday and I'll have a better idea of the difference between them and the CS mount then.
I'm hoping I can swing a head to head comparison of the Cryostar, Chilly1, and maybe throw a stock Vapo LS, evaps on the same system. This just depends on the customers willingness to wait it out, I think he'll go for it since he is interested in the outcome as well.

Have fun with capillary tubing there boshunter :)
As for mount, one bad thing with new chilly1 mount is that you can't freely roatate evap around due to the fact it was designed more for cap tube inside suction line type of evap (which the evap isn't).
You could take evap out of mounting, rotate mounting and than try to squeeze it back in. Another thing is small gap that appears when you put evap in... Otherwise, it is fine one. I probably will cut my own foam inserts to make it usable the way I like it.
It might not be the prettiest one but the design Gosmeyer is using which was prototyped about a year or two back on my end as well as basically what @itor evap enclosure design was has huge advantage of being able to rotate easily without removal of evap for installation.
The foam used there is excellent one that has very good thermal resisitivity boshunter, you would be surprised :)

Jinu, what I do is take a holesaw bit at 3/4", and drill thru the top part of the mount removing the material. Then the mount can rotate decently with quite a bit of force, but your right, easier to remove then rotate.

I didn't mean any offence with it, just a little bland and i think a small tweak would do it wonders.
Though i am tempted to have Sliencer make one for it! Now then it'd be pimp
