Hello all

Im looking for some help i want to take my vapochill ls and fit it into my U2-UFO but im a little worried about taking it out the case is there some info people can give me things i need to watch out for things i should do before i start i dont want to kill the cooler or my self but i do really want the thing inside my U2-UFO.
Atm im running things in my old stacker which is ok but not how i wanted things i have a lot of hdds and the stacker is the best case for that with its 4in1 its so good and very low sound so i can leave it on 24/7 where as the U2-UFO isnt so good lol

thanks for any help guys and girls

Just unbolt it completely, lift by the compressor and condensor, you can drop it in but your flexible line might not work out ;)

4 rivets on mine held condenser in place. The 4 clips on the 4 pins that held the compresser in.

1st take all the electronic apart and out, dead easy to and re-do.

Then go for the rest.

I was thinking about that so im going to build the base up a bit so i can still have a psu down the bottom and still get the pipe on the cpu :D

cheers

It's about 18'' long the suction line and don't bend much.

Thickbrit is local, so is Bazx, and 4Qman and Sachs i belive.

Mole is up north and thats it phase wise.

Wel lthere is Bret that does his own up north near Shefild and my self self Bristol.

Gray Mole is the guy if you need it modding etc.

Yeah i was thinking about getting it modded would like it to hold loads better im running a E6850 on a 680i @490fsb = 4414mhz but it could be a little more stable for my liking hehe i have to leave steam running in the task bar or i cant run super pi lol work that out hehe

Iv got the cpu running on 1.65volts but im sure its the mobo thats killing me but hey 4.4 isnt to bad just wish i could be sure im getting things right

Im getting a score of around 12.300 in super pi single run with my ram @981mhz 4-3-3-10 thought it might be a little faster than that :(

Pete

4.4 aint bad at all. 1.65V via BIOS is a low volt still for phase mate and will drop a bit in Windows.

490FSB on a 680I again is massive, A1 rev i guess.

Probs get a bit more out of it. Super Pi on the 680i is not great anyway but your time seams about right.

I was pumping 1.8v on my E6850 on my X38.

If ya on MSN feel free to add me okay, it's in my profile here

Cool thanks
Im running a XFX board so im not sure about the Rev i have had to play with the board running older bios and so on found p28 and p30 worked best for me but im thinking of changing the board for the Evga or for a intel chipset.

I was thinking of upping the volts a bit i have tried 1.7v at the most but it didnt seem to get me anywhere plus with my vapochill things started to warm up i was showning a temp of about -39 highest iv seen it

The vapochill display is way off, it reads temps up on the suction line which is okay but not true evap temp. I used a K-type on my evap and BIOS for the cpu.

I'd recomend an Intel chipset, X38 is really good and so is P35. X48 soon in retial. CPU PLL volts is what got my cpu going, 2.6v i ran and got it to 5Ghz.

oh now you have lost me lol.
I dont know what a K-type is or PLL cpu volts
But 5Ghz well done dude Think i have found my chipset limit tried for 4.5Ghz but couldn't get into windows

This is my first Intel rig i got the vapochill for my AMD rig but found every chip i had was cold bugged so in mood ordered the Intel i was going to get the Evga board but it wasn't in stock at the time so i got the XFX as they were the same board at heart

This is what they mean... I am load testing a vapochill LS before I do modification as it has been a while since I had done so.
175w so far.

I was actually quite impressed with the build quality of the LS ... it is just not tuned for Quad core CPU's. With my system I had a huge improvement in performance for my QX6850 when I shortened the captube by 30cm. Now I have my system running 24/7 @ 4.32 Ghz while earlier I was unable to keep my system perfectly stable even at 4 Ghz. I am sure there might be ways to better tune the system by trying different gas mixes or even more adjustment to captube length ... but until my home workshop is finished that will have to wait. As it is I think Vapochill could greatly help its customer base if they would give a choice of Quad core tuned and Dual core tuned systems.

While I think that the entire system is using good parts ... the thing I would most definetely like changed would be the evaporator. I think it just does not have enough mass to handle the hotter Quad cores. With Quads I feel you need more mass to absorb the quick temperature jump when all 4 cores are loaded. As it is I think the LS evaporator is designed more with single core CPU's in mind.

So I would conclude that a simple tuning of the captube and maybe changing the evaporator and the LS would be a great system for an out of the box SS unit.

K-type is a thermocouple thermomiter i think. It's the best way to get true temps. I bought a volt craft unit thats had 2 inputs for £40 delivered.

PLL volts is what let the CPU's FSB go more, not sure if the 680i has it or not, i only use Intel chipsets.

Might well be the max for the chipset. What cooling is on the chipset?

Hi thanks for replys

jinu117 think i might have to test my LS now after looking at that pic :S

Pete the chipset is stock atm but it will have a ek waterblock soon both nb and sb will im going to take every thing apart tomorrow and get my vapochill nice and naked for the case change.
Pete think my 680i does have a PLL think its range is 1.2v - 1.5 but if i set 1.5i cant even boot to bios no matter what fsb im at :(

I'll agree 100% with you, if they dropped the price $200 and worked on tuning it for quads they'd have a killer on their hands. Thankfully they haven't touched it and that leaves a decent market for mods :D I've learned a bit from tearing about Vapo's, no better way to develop techniques than by tearing apart other builds and having those "ahhh, that's a smart way to do it" moments.

Ooo man get that on water and you might get more, so far wow amazing for stock but water should see you go some more.

Tom @ www.chilledpc.co.uk has all you need man!

By the way you got a PM about the vapo case
