Hi guys!
I made a 5,25" insert for mounting a Dixell/Eliwell and optional a mains switch to a case. The aluminium ist waterjet cut (sadly I did not order foiled aluminium so the alu got a little "misty" aorund the holes), but it doesnt matter if the front is painted.
If some of you are interested, I could make some more (I got 6 sets atm.).
Does anybody have any suggestions for improvement?
Regards,
Philipp
i do prefer front without bolts.
personally I normally take an original front from the case and mill. that's what I did on the last v2000 case i mounted a carell controller (about the same as dixell/eliwell).
regards
Tim
It looks nice, but I would advise a redesign to make it cheaper.
As far as I can see, it has 29 pieces (incl. bolts) which is really a lot for such a small item.
Ideally you should cut the whole thing out of one Alu plate, which you bend and bolt/rivet/weld together afterwards.
And if you don´t have access to a brake (http://www.ee.byu.edu/services/shop/images/metal_brake.jpg), than perhaps you can watercut 'tear-off edges' into the alu, so it can be bend by hand.
Or you can build your own metal brake, like this:

LOL :D

You´re right, 29 parts :), I didnt count yet. You are right about the brake but I dont have the room to put a brake somewhere.

Nice Philipp
The small brake that Jack is showing is relatively cheap. You could pay for the brake by saving parts for your insert

Bendings cheap, good 36" bender on ebay for $40 shipped, its breaking thats pricey.
