this was @ all max 1680x1050 4xAA 8xAF on a 8800GT 512M. was getting ~620MB on the 2nd level where i rope down the hill(near the powerline) and after that it creeps toward 650MB ....... and my GT's 512MB VRAM was able handle it without any slowdown/dropped frame due to the need to fill VRAM ...

hmmm which made me to believe that its ok to go like 100 maybe even 150 MB over ur VRAM's capacity as long as u have enough bandwidth....

512 was able to handle it, but GTS 320?? might be pushing it, i mean ur talking about twice as much VRAM usage as the GFX card's limit. what do u guys think??

here r some SS:

Does this game support widescreen resolutions?

yes thats how it was able to run @ 1680x1050 ... i think... lol not sure if it actually increases the FOV ..

How do you enable VRAM / Memory Monitor in Rivatuner???

nice is that the FPS number furthest down? If then seems like it runs beatifully on a 8800GT on any res you want.

go to hardware monitoring > setup > plugins , then check VidMem.dll

yeah GT SLI rocks, pwns my Red Ring of death box 185, and painstation 3 (yes i have all 3 consoles as well , but i choose to play PC)

umm no one wanna talk about VRAM usage?? lol, ahh ill post this in general hardware /...

goddammit, this game is giving me a helluva time (although I must say the graphics are pretty sweet) with 1gig hd2900xt - the crashes are so frequent and random with 7.10 and vista. All my other games (bf2142, world in conflict, etc) are running perfectly.. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this with a setup similar to mine..

Installed and played the MP last night it was pretty nice. Averaged around 50 FPS at 2560x1600, all stock settings on CPU and GPU's. Gonna OC when my EVGA mb returns from RMA.

I've played over 5 hours on MP with a 8800GTX @ 1920x1200, Q6600, 2gigs ram, and XP. I get over 90FPS with most settings on medium/high but with no AA and no AF.

I have never crashed or even hit a lag spike. This game is running flawlessly for me at a tremendous FPS given the resolution and quality.

no scientific testing here but ive seen about 500-630MB of VRAM usage 1680x1050 4xAA 8xAF.

btw you guys running a quad, would you mind checking if it uses all cores? i doubt it, would be a nice surprise though :)

dont u guys think that there is something funny about VRAM usage exceeds the card's 512MB VRAM??? ....

well this happens. tomb raider legend for example ran a little choppy on my 7800GTX 256MB cuz it needed ~500MB VRAM with the nextgen content enabled.

the fps was ok but there was a little stutter every now and then if you were running around a lot.

yeah kinda. but doesnt that just mean that when the vram is all used up (512mb in your case) the rest is run in the system memory? or something of the like

should run well on 8800gtx 768mb vram?

Infinity Ward must have found some kind of voodoo coding methodology to pull this kind of performance from a game that looks so good. We don't even need next gen cards for it.

Edit: Stupid me, I just realized the card is overclocked by default and I'm not using the 8pin connector. Set the PEG Control to SLOW and underclocked a little bit, runs perfect now!

I can throw down with the COD4 demo on my notebook @ 1440X900 without big lag. Got a dual core 2ghz intel, 2gb ram, and an nvidia 7900GS with only 256mb. However, Dirt makes my vid card beg for mercy. I can even play Crysis @ 1024 and medium details but Dirt lags out horribly.

I get about 550MB usage on Core 0 and around 375MB usage on Core 1. This is with my 7950GX2. I am using the demo however.

It is odd to me that it reports 550MB usage when I only have 512 (well, 512 x 2).

How do you get Rivatuner to report your FPS, Usage, etc in game? I have to alt-tab to the graphs...

It does.
1280x1024, high on AA/AF no lag what so ever.

I get 90-125 fps in multiplayer 1920*1200, 0aa, max AF in game, everything but shadows, soften smoke edges, and dynamic lights on/max. I'll have to check vram usage.

Good olī cod2 engine, hope they fixed the c**p that the engine was.
if you donīt remember: check sli for extra performance with 1card, fake loading 8xAF/4xAF for performance, Unplayable maps on certain computers... among other things

And about that VRAM usage, remember thereīs an option in bios, agp/pci-e aperture size, thatīs why it can go over your graphics card vram limit :p:

What? CoD2 played like a dream, just like CoD4.

Yup, they've done one hell of a job. Can't say that about Crysis, it looks you'll need 8800GT SLI just to play on low settings:rofl:

well if thats the case then yeah , i mean its ok to go over maybe even 150/200+MB over ur card's limit, assuming ur GFX card has enough bandwidth, which the GT does .. more or less.. and also enough system RAM bandwidth

so that when it used up VRAM , the system RAM can still keep up with the VRAM usage ... but if it gets too large, like 500+MB VRAM usage on 320MB VRAM . it slows down, thats why GTS 320 gets killed in higher resolution like 1980/2560 on most recent games. and in stalker GTS320 users gets those extra framerates by pressing alt+tab to windows and back, which reloads VRAM

TURN OFF ALL MONITORING SOFTWARE!!! Rivatuner, atitool , atitraytools, smartguardian are all giving it problems!!!

i fully completed CoD4 with easy tune and Everest running so you can still monitor if you use those.
