I find if you know where to look and know the right people you can get prety much anything you want to lay your hands on. I'll agree the prices are far higher, but thats just the cost of living in the uk.

I've never had a problem finding particular components, i only ever have a problem with the prices compared to the US - we always seem to end up paying double. I've even gone as far as to send my girlfriend £190 as for that much she can get me another 2gb of memory, an 8800GT and STILL have £40 left over for something else in the future!

ok granted that finding components are all rigth to come buy
but things like sounds systems and stuff no so easy i mean every one goes on about how Klipsch Promedia 4.1/5.1 is better than the -z5500
i mean myself i end up buying my components of here if i can becasue like u said it so much cheap

Well i would say that its just abit harder to find things because there isnt one big online store such as newegg that covers everything.
I was abit p*ssed today when i went out to buy COD4 and GOW for PC only to realise they arent being released here until the 9th. Good news is that i got them on preorder now along with Crysis thats out on 16th Nov :D
Most likely stores to use are
Scan.co.uk
Overclockers.co.uk
Ebuyer.co.uk
Specialtech.co.uk
Novatech.co.uk
Coolercases.co.uk
Aria.co.uk
Microdirect.co.uk

Damn right about prices! Sometimes i wonder if it's cheaper (or equivalent) to hop over to America for a few days and shop for bits over there than buy stuff in the UK....

water cooling stuff is hardest to find in the UK, most places that sell it are usually out of stock, especially when trying to get 1/2" tygon tubing or anything decent.
have to order from like 4 different places to build a decent 1/2" loop.
why can't US stores ship abroad? someone should start a petition

but ya sucks, the prices plus your VAT is just dumb over in uk

I've thought about this a few times. I was going to do when i wanted the DFI p35 but realised that ebuyer are selling it.
if you do goto the states to get something and get caught bringing it back into the country, you've got that damn import tax that needs to be paid :(

There are some companies that can buy whatever you want and then ship it all together in the UK.

dragging up a slightly older thread,
latley i've decided i need a new laptop (my tosh a10 is quite old now) and ive been looking at an asus santa rosa laptop. in the states its about £1100 (£700ish) but over there its £1100 .... how can it be justified that we should pay so much :(

Im really annoyed at the moment because not 1 single place in the uk has the non window version of the Mozart TX case. I can find countless sites in USA, Aus,Germany,Russia but not in the UK.
It doesnt help that Thermaltake havent even bothered replying to the question i asked them over a week ago.
Im so p*ssed im even considering buying it from the states and getting it shipped to the uk if the price isnt too high.

I'm assuming you have to pay for this forwarding service & then when the goods do arrive you're still liable to pay customs & excise duties.

That's cos Thermaltake's UK Distributor / Importer only bring in the window'd version - resellers have no choice in what they can carry particularly unless they place an order for several hundred... and there isn't the demand for several hundred Mozart TX non-window in this country...

I find everything I want, when I want it. You need to look harder!!! aqua-pcs.co.uk and watercooling.co.uk always have nice new shiny thinks inc. custom EK eddie blocks... Sidewinder ship to UK and I have used them too.
I agree with your gripe with pricing, that pi$$es me off. I have a mate in US who ships in goods for me if I want @ a small cost but I always end up winning. Import tax is avoidable. If caught it's not that bad, adding VAT to an item you got for half price still makes it a bargain. All from experience.
A long time ago I ordered some car parts direct from the USA, they arrived within 10 days and then I got a letter from a handling agent at Heathrow stating that the items were held in Customs, & that I had to go through an agent to retrieve them. I ended up not just paying the duty but also the agent's handling fees, I was probably ripped-off but needed the parts urgently. It's all down to luck of the draw with customs, some items are held but I've also had other items come through without paying a penny in duty, I think the way an item is packed may have a lot to do with it. Anyone who has a friend in the USA willing to forward items to the UK is golden!
