Okay it sounds like good PSU. I called into order one today to find mounting external POT on it will cost me additional $90 on top of hefty $189!!!
I took a step back and started browsing again. One funny thing is,
from internal pic, it looks identical to Fortron PSU of similar rating. Uses same fans, specs and features are equivalent exception of the variation of %... Somehow, it didn't surprise me considering how fortron PSU has been rebranded numerous times but... the 550W one from fortron going at $79 started to make me wonder... (and I know fortron is damned good PSU if lacking some marketing out in US).
Did they do something to it? Or just rebranding it like what Zalman and Nexus is doing as well as few other PSU suppliers are doing?
I've ordered fortron 550W in the meantime and probably will pull those pots outside of PSU for easy adjustment in the mean time. But would appreciate from the user of PC&P PSU if they really did some modifications to it at all.

I think most members on the forum would tell you that the PC Power & Cooling power supplies are the best on the planet (they are NOT the cheapest). Yes the 3 external pots are 90 bucks but are not cheap piano pots either, they are great!

I have the 510W TurboCool and it rocks, best hardware purchase ever for me. Talk to Bob Roark, GM at PC Power & Cooling if you have any concerns at all.

This is review on fortron PSU have some decent pic of how typical fortron 400W upwards internal is like...

http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27788

gives an indication PC&P is from Fortron in essence. (which is the case with quite a few PSU maker that I've seen) Now I don't trust it 100% as there was no verfied information in how PC&P is fortron in essence. However, as I originally had suspected, the chances are pretty high.
Can someone who has PC&P look into it? The pots seem to be of nicer variety vs fortron. But, I don't see too much difference between them.
(AFAIK, many smaller brand PSU vendors -namely, zalman, nexus, and silentx, etc - will give fortron their spec and ask it to be made. Sort of like OCZ using samsung RAM, etc. And since its unlike anyone will use PSU to 100% of its capacity... maybe I could save enough for another $200 proc while attaining 99% of performance).
As long as it does better than true control, I guess I am happy though :)

I don't doubt its the best thing. Its just... price/performance matters to me. Porsche boxster-S vs 350Z open top kind of comparison.... except price differential is as high as 3 times+

Well looks close but mine has a differant internal setup..appears to be anyways.

but one thing that wouldnt make sense here.
when i had mine built i talked to the General manager.
it took 3 extra nights to find a board for me.you see i paid to get one that would push the limits.
i told him forget a computer i wanted a power supply capable of going close to 14.v if i wanted it to.and to do that he had the night shift go though a few cicuit boards before he had one that was on the high end of there spec.then he had them build the supply.it cost me a few more dollars but i wanted to be able to hit 14v if I wanted to.and they did what i asked.
they will do whatever you ask as long as you dont mind paying.

it could be they do use some power supplies, but i doubt it if any of the high end ones were.
they couldnt have done what was done to mine unless it was hand built there.

PC Power and Cooling make all of the Turbo Cool right there at their facilities, they are not made by anyone else. BUT they do use other manufactures PSU's for there lowend econimical series. Fortran my be the manufactuer I'm not sure.

Your best bet is to call Bob Roark over at PC Power & Cooling and just ask, but Major is correct.

I've misplaced Bob Roark's email addy or would have posted, but you'll never find a nicer more responsive guy in the biz who is a general manager, very customer oriented.

I bugged Bob for a week and half before my PSU was built out, exactly to my specs.

I believe that most PC Power & Cooling PSU's are based on PSU's made by Zippy/Emacs.

my only problem with the pcp&c is the incredible noise the bluddy fan makes on this thing.

i have the variable speed fan version and on anything but the slowest setting it is 2-3 times louder than anything else in my case and actually means i have to turn the tv up a bit sometimes to hear it.

rather than risk cutting the wires that attach the current fan and sticking my own fan on it (as im not sure what kinda of rpm it would need to be to prevent overheating), i just selotaped an 80mm evercool on the back of the psu where the grill is and this helps push more air through tot he front exhaust fan and keep it cool enuff to stop it spinning up to a faster speed as much.

now i wouldnt mind but putting my hand behind this exhaust fan tells me the fan is blowing very little air even when at the faster speeds so it shouldnt be making any noise at all, its just a really bad fan and it drives me mad.

PC Power and Cooling by far the best. I just bought the Turbo Cool 510 Deluxe. It is damn sexy too with braided wires.
