My MX-2 came in today, and I'm planning on re-seating the TRUE tomorrow. Now, here's my question for you:

On their website, they show a picture of the recommended application AC LINK (http://www.arctic-cooling.com/downloads/installation/install_mx2_retail.pdf), but there's no way to tell what chip is pictured (zoom gets very blurry) and the directions are very vague.

So, how did you apply it to your quad? Thanks!

apply it like the way you would apply AS5 on a quad, dont follow that instruction because thats not for quad.

So, the same thin line (i.e, Audi's method), in the same location (left to right aligned with the text on the IHS)?

I just put a pea sized dot in the middle and used a piece of thin, hard plastic to spread it. I don't know if that's the best way thought lol.

I used the line method, a thin inch long line horizontally (the IO back panel is facing top)

people may argue but for me its the instructions in the link you provided. twisting and pushing down removes air from the mixture

when you spread it and lay a flat body onto it the chances of trapped air are greatly increased

i havent spread any paste since the old athlon xp, well a friend removed the IHS from a single core athlon 64 and we did it on that

but if u place it down at an angel u wont get air and if u do the pea then press u wont ge teh corners or u will get over flow and the quads have chips under the corners

the ghetto method here:
dab on the cpu and a dab on the hsf.
put your finger in a piece of saran wrap and rub it in good...
position the hsf and give a little twist back and forth.
and tighten her down...

full load folding:

Temps on the case?

Temps on the case?

21-22c ambient...
I haven't measured inside the case, but since the side is off, might as well say close to ambient. I plan on putting the side on, but it's been left off to give me motivation to reroute the cables. I put this sys together last week at 2am and was not exactly neat routing at that hour. lol... it's been folding ever since, well except for a while today while I took crysis demo for a spin.

here's a shot of everest I just took, still folding... 24/7
this is the first time I've used mx-2 and I was very satisfied with it, not only working with it but the results too..

21C ambient? :O How'd you get such a low temp in the case? What's the temp of the room?

21C ambient? :O How'd you get such a low temp in the case? What's the temp of the room?

when I said ambient, I meant room temp... AC thermostat is on about 70-72F, so that would convert to 21-22c room temp. since the side of my case is off, I'm guestimating the inside of the case is probably somewhere close to room temp-ambient... I'd have to hold a thermometer in there to be sure though, it may be a little warmer than room temp, not much though..

whatever the sensors pick up in everest are listed in the pic... the pc stays folding all the time, except when I need it for cpu intensive tasks-like crysis.. though I played today while folding, it was stuttery though. played better when I killed the client. point is those pics are 100% cpu for hours, so they are full load temps, I think they are pretty good-which translates to I'd highly recommend mx-2/thermalright extreme 120 w/push/pulls to anyone looking for a air cooling setup for a quad. My x2 6000 pc which sits right next to the quad case gets core temps in the mid-high 50's at 3ghz stock... That tells you how good mx-2 and thermalright are together... ;)
