A friend of mine purchased two HD2900Pro 512MB cards and 4 Samsung LCD monitors... He can only seem to get 2 monitors working on the first card... No displays on the second card?
HE is NOT running crossfire?
Help?

while zanzabars comment may seem stupid after the u (OP) specified that ur friend is NOT running crossfire - first of let me say, i dont know much about crossfire - so let me suggest, double check that crossfire is not actually enabled (maybe it auto enables when u plug in two of same card - like i said, dunno jack about crossfire)...
second suggestion:
go into device manager & see if theres any 'unrecognised' hardware - sheeesh, i only recently did my machine up & i cant even remember if i had to install video drivers twice (i have two video cards for 4 monitors as well).. so maybe u have to get the pc to search for new hardware &/or install drivers 'again' for the second card...

i install one card then drivers then put the other card in . go to properties and enable all monitors . pretty easy really
there is a nice app also called ultramon that works well with multi monitors .

that is enabling the SPI link on 965 chipset, really is not enabling crossfire, and is nothing more than enabling the communication interface for the cards. This was a hack to get Crossfire working in the first place, as orginally that chipset DID NOT SUPPORT CROSSFIRE.
But what if there was a way you could add CrossFire support to the P965 chipset? You’d have the best of both worlds, as you’d have the superior features and lower price of P965 and CrossFire support, a feature that up until now has been exclusive to 975X.
With their latest driver release, Catalyst 6.9, this is precisely what ATI has enabled for CrossFire enthusiasts who want a P965 motherboard. But to get it all up and running, there are a few caveats you’ll have to keep in mind first. In this article we’re going to go over them, how well it all works, and finally, how it performs in comparison to 975X CrossFire. We also chat with ATI’s new Director of Marketing for Platform Technologies (read: CrossFire) Godfrey Cheng, and take a look at a very early beta copy of ATI’s upcoming Catalyst 6.10 driver which offers even more P965 CrossFire enhancements! Let’s get started…

Does this option disappear when only one card is installed? Nope.
Rob, if ya haven't got this sorted, MSN me.

wow that throws my idea out but i had xfire with x1900pro 256mb cards and that enabled and it wouldent use the dvi on the bottom card if the cross link was enabled even if in the drivers i didnt have xfire enabled
and asus claimes crossfire so wouldent intel get all up on them

Well, it could be possible that some bios work-around is the issue, if he's using a 965 board..., but that would be the first I heard of that.
There were no X1900pro cards...X1950pro...X1900GT...but anyway, that's besides the point...your specific issue is because of poor bios hack to make Crossfire work, along with the "PEGLink" bios-overclocking of the cards.
