I am using a Nvidia Riva TNT2 32 meg card (yeah, its old) and want to know what version of direct x I should using?

I reformated my PC and now CS (counter strike) has like a really bad mouse movement delay for some reason.

I cant figure this out? My Sony Vaio has the same card too and also does the same thing when I install CS on that machine...I know that it is a setting.

Any help please?

You should always maintain the newest version of Direct X software as the software is not dependent on the video card. Go get Direct X 9.0b here (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx)

You should also load some fairly recent drivers for the card. nVidia is the best source as they made the graphics chipset. Download here (http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp) . Always keep this driver up to date as it includes the OpenGL driver you will be using in many of your games including HalfLife/CStrike. I recommend the OpenGL driver in CStrike as the spray paints, decals, and splatters only display properly in OpenGL.

BTW, are you playing CounterStrike 1.6 beta? It's more fun with the riot shield! You need STEAM (http://www.steampowered.com/) to download the 1.6 beta. You should initially install halflife(no need to update it) then install Steam. It will do all the downloading for you now.

Cheers!

Is it that the mouse moves to slow? or is it jumpy? If its too slow there is an option to change the sensitivity to speed things up.
