help!!!! ok so heres what i know:
-I have used this device before on this same computer connected to the same router, and it stopped working when i was playing Halo and it froze, the whole story of that is in another thread i made heres the link: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=162590 If you read that, everything is back to normal now, except sometimes the taskbar goes oldschool randomly, and of course the internet is not working
- Its not the device, i installed it on another comp and it works fine (which also mean the routers' wireless is working)
-May be my hard drive, it has been randomly deleting things,
ex. like for some reason music in itunes wont play, but sound works fine,
ex. paint and calculator are gone... and i didn't delete their files
ex. for some reason volume control left us, so we reinstalled the drivers for sound and now we got it back.
so my question here is: what could my hard drive have deleted to cause this? in other words what is necessary for wireless to work?
-Also whenever i boot up my comp i have to disable then enable my audio drivers in order for the sound to work
-The device cannot detect my ip address (see network connection details pic), but it can detect it on other comps
-Appeared one day in network connections and the two little comps at the left of the taskbar were there, and i could check the status, properties, etc. Now i get nothing. The 3 jpegs were of when it did get that, but it was still not the full info (see details pic), and it could receive no packets (see wireless network connection 31 status pic), and when i tried to repair it said The following steps failed:
Renewing the IP address.
Refreshing all DHCP leases and re-registering DNS names.
(see repair connection pic)
Sometimes i will only get the Renewing the IP address. error, and the DCHP one doesnt come up.
-Edit:So now it was working like it was before (like it is in the pics), and i noticed i had like 5 svchost.exe running, so i ended a few of them, (i figured i could get rid of all but one), a Message came up, it told me it had to shutdown and it counted down from 1 minute, it said it was b/c Remote Procedure Call (RPC) was terminated unexpectedly. It said the shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM
-Whenever i start up my comp svchost.exe is taking up 100% of my processor, so i end the process
-I have not tried to connect my router directly to this comp (LAN) b/c that would be too much of a hassle, i will though if you think its necessary, to figure out more about it.
My best guess is that something important on my hard drive got deleted, but then again i dont know very much.
Note: I have Windows Xp Home, SP1
PLZ PLZ post any ideas you have, i am completely stumped. All new info is underlined
