View Full Version : Cooler for Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 ?

wasup, i'm thinkin' to buy a Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 mobo, but i'm using now a Tuniq tower , this mobo have a back plate of copper , anyone have problems whit this ? or please recommend an air cooler for this mobo ! TNKS :up:

lol too be totally honest i think you just have to be creative about it, ive heard of several people taking it off and just leaving the northbridge with no screws, risky but its held securly from the other two sinks its connected to.

get a washer, cut it and make a shim out of it

Just hack the back plate to use the part taht the north bridge screws into...I did on my DQ6 P965 and my mate did it on his X38 DQ6. And if you ever need to RMA the board you can allways try to get one in the buy n sell section across the diff computer forums.

Just read the manual on page 16 on how to remove the crazy cool plate.
Its very easy to remove it, and you get 2 screws st repalce the one that is missing when the plate is of. Does not woid warranty.
I have Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 and i remove all the crap stock heatsink
And i install HR-05 on both NB & SB

Yep, exactly what I did here :up: , its pretty tight, it wont come off easily.
