What's the best P35 motherboard under $130 in regards to OCing quad-cores? I know most of you are going to say the DFI Blood Iron, but I'll ask anyways...

With the DS3R I couldn't get any higher than a 425 FSB with a 9x multiplier (on air).

It is a pretty rock solid board nonetheless. Haven't had any issues, so I can't complain.

9x400 at around 1,5V. Something on the voltage regulation virtually blew apart.

either the biostar tp35d2-a7 or the blood iron. screw gigacrap the biostar and blood iron perform better then it imo. p5k isnt bad either. so 3 good choices. if you like bios options then go blood iron for sure. if you want the cheapest and best overclocker go with the biostar. i have had no problems with mine and i hear a lot of people lately complaining about gigacrap boards. stay away from them.

Yah iv heard alot of complaints about asus recently. I myself had to rma my P5B-Dx. I picked up the biostar tp35d2-a7 as a replacement for the time being, but I wouldnt be surprised if it ends up outperforming the P5B. Asus is all Bling on black pcb lol.

I was really really set on getting the Blood Iron, but then I read SOO much about inadequate cooling for the north bridge and it also being inadequate for a quad core.

OK, so I've narrowed it down to:

Gigabyte P35-DS3R
DFI Blood Iron

I considered Biostar, but I've always known them as a budget company, but if someone can give me some screenshots of some mad OCs with some quad-cores, I might consider them...

I have never had any issues and I have had a few of them in all different kinds of builds and they have got the job done.

where's the blood iron thread.....
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=155464&highlight=blood+iron
just curious to compare.

i reckon i'd pick the dfi one...based on nothing really...mainly the name and it looks to perform just aswell..probably better bios as mentioned.
no old style printer serial on the b.i. just neat usb's

but how about quads...i saw a comment that dfi has 4 phase....wot does ds3r have?

ds3r has been around for longer

mmm i reckon the ds3r is the safer bet....i see too many problems popping up in that blood iron thread.

The P5K isn't bad, I have a Deluxe, But a friend of my had a P5K and a Pentium D. He wanted me to overclock it and I did, I got it upto 4.6Ghz Stable on air.

The DS3-R is a fine board. I had it stable at 7x525 with an E6600. 9x417 is the best I have been able to do with my Q6600, but I have never tried to get a high fsb with it. I am going to be trying out the MSI Neo-2 FR next week. It looks like it might be decent, and it's only $120 at newegg.

sound problems with the X-Fi, memory overclocking baffles me. It refuses to even get into windows at DDR2 945 4-4-4-12 but will gladly boot into windows and run dual SuperPi at over DDR2 1100 as long as all settings are on Auto. Even tough the CAS and it refuses to boot.

So...avoid the Blood Iron?

I'm looking for a board for myself. This G31MX-S2 for a budget system for my little sister is making me take the Intel route...

I want something that will handle Yorkfield. Should I just save up a few more weeks and get a LP P35 T2R? I <3 my Ultra-D...definitely want another DFI as long as it works well :p

I have the DS3R and I'm very happy with it's performance so far. My only issue with this board is, vdroop with my quad. Checking out the gigabyte thread shows the DS3R has a history of it.

BTW there are a new batch of beta bioses (for other gigabyte boards) floating around, and it appears to fix the droop issue on the DQ6 at least semi-confirmed. Maybe this will be an issue of the past at some point.

you can get an abit IP35 for under $130 so that's another 1 to consider (& personally I would take it over the Gigabyte DS3R although I would take a DS3P).

Is there any reason that no one is recommending the Intel P35DPM? It is only $106 @ newegg. http://tinyurl.com/2cfvb2

Also, is a P35 chipset better than a 975?
