The speed controller appears to be stuck on low speed on one of my BadAxe2 motherboards. I'm using an Arctic Cooling AF12025 PWM fan on an Ultra 120 Xtreme. When I first put computer together it worked fine. It quit working after a few weeks. A BIOS update got it working again. Now it's again running at low speed. I have tried another fan but it also runs at low speed. Any ideas what is causing this? BTW, this computer is a WCG cruncher with a Q6600 so the temp is plenty high enough that the fan speed should increase.

Hi David,
I think I have the same problem with my xbx2. On idle my cpu fan runs at ~590rpm, when i load my cores via everest or prime and they get above 60c, the cpu fan speed does not change. I'm not sure this is a problem though because I do not know at what temp the Q6600 triggers the fan to a higher speed. I remember my E6600 cpu fan speed increases when the core temps hit 55c or 60c. BTW, I'm using a JMC 120mm PWM fan connected to the motherboard cpu fan connector, the JMC is cooling my single GTX120 rad.

yes, its under bios. im trying to remember which tabs its under. its under the Advanced tab, then you need to go to Boot Config, and it should say something about the fan speeds and what-not. turn them to full or disable, i forget. and the next time you reboot after saving the changes, your fans should run full speed. hope this helps, if not, ill give you more in detail as soon as i get home from my trip.

I can change the settings in the BIOS and make fan run full speed all the time. How do I make it control (vary according to temp) fan speed again?

I know that there are settings within the Intel desktop control center.

Desktop Control Center won't work with Vista 64. :(
