I got an Freezone Elite over a month ago to Beta test ( I paid for it) and see what its headroom was for a q6600 OC'd on the temp control area and was surprised by the outcome. I got their eliminator to frost a cpu so I wanted to see what their Freezone Elite could do with a Quad at 3.9ghz + as this was out of the range for a eliminator (designed for C2D).
I was skeptical and made a few trips to Frys and looked at their stuff before buying it. Tecs were new to me and I couldnt see how a complete plug and play unit could either be easy to install and work well. I finally talked myself into purchasing the eliminator and was blown away. I had a e6850 OCd at the time and it kept that CPU cold. I swapped to a quad and its head room was good for 3.4ghz max 24/7. It had reached its head room after that it didnt have what it takes. Thats when I iopted for something different, the ELITE.
13882 - Single 8800GTS 320m Q6600 @ 3.9ghz
Heres my 3dmark06 link:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=3365267
I did 68/74/68/75 with a 4.1ghz and 1.69v run (prime95 small ftts 4 minutes before crash) before something else on the board got cranky with me (I think the NB got hostile! :D) and completely shut off. I have had little time lately to OC it with the new shop and all but Im going to go for the 4.0 - 4.1 I need to run 3dmark06 and see how long I can P95 for. I am more or less going for headroom and temp limits more than anything for now as well as a 3dmark06 score;:D
I am 1 hour stable with 3.87 1.65v 63/67 p95 (needed the computer for job that came in so I quit the P95)
They released a Boreas which is a 12 TEC Monster that I am considering due to my 8800 and NB needing some cooling now. They can loop it in for SLI's, Crossfire, ATI's, NBs Intel etc...
They have a up to 30% off trade in program going on right now with the introduction of the new products and I have some old coolers sitting here I can trade in. might as well get something for them.

I am happy and just thought Id report my experience with it being as its a new product and I Was/Am exrtemely happy to have been ablt to test it as well as get it ahead of scheduel to run it hard to see what it can do.
Pics are from L to R then down!
Pic #1 is boreas 12 tec cooler multiple custom configurations to order; 2 sli/cpu./NB/SB/ati/crossfire etc....
Pic #2 Is the new Freezone Elite with control tec mod that allows you to bypass thermal control and go sub ambient
Pic #3 is the SLI cooler fits in fron drive bay and has tecs directly on cards for more effective and direct cooling.
Pic #4 is the 8800 GPU cooler close up they also have tha ATI sled thats really cool.
Pic #5 is the freezone elite set up for SLI cooling
They have more stuff thats beyond my knowledge and how it works being as I havent had a chance to play with the Boreas yet.
I will be running a Boreas (MONSTER COOLER) very shortly as I have reached the limits of my 8800 and I want a all in 1 to cool my NB (before I cook it again) My GPU and CPU + throw the control tec mod on and see just how COLD that BEAST gets!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably a little bit, but not much. My chip is really power hungry compared to other G0's. Doesnt make me happy but oh well.

Thnx man , you're OC's aren't bad either :p:
I hope to clock an e6850 tomorrow with a friend :yepp:
It would be really cool if CoolIT brings a TEC solution on the market which you can add to you're existing watercooling to cool the water down.
EDIT:, OMG, just found it, http://www.coolitsystems.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=65&Itemid=83

.... dont even know where to start on this.
i dont like coolit. There not a great company. Usually mid lvl water will match if not destory there product. High end water Rapes them and requires less electricity.
Heres the TEC's specs for the elite. It doesnt look very good as you claim.
TECs (6)
Power usage: Max total 72 Watts
Design: Six solid-state heat pump wafers
Dimensions: 40 x 40 x 3.5 mm (each)
Weight: 20g (each)
Also about your boras unit.
Technical Specs
Chiller and Pump Module
Heatsink
Design: Anodized alloy, radial intake array
Dimension: 138 x 138 x 123 mm
Surface Area: 956,097mm²
Weight: 1352g
What type of alloy is it? Seems like the company is a bit shady on its materials. :\ The only alloy i could see needing anodizing, would be alu, or some combination of alu. :\
Also this cracked me up the most:
TECs (12)
Power usage: Max total 130 Watts
Design: Twelve solid-state heat pump wafers
Dimension: 40 x 40 x 3.5 mm (each)
Weight: 20g (each)
Were getting back to the topic about adding 100 x 20W tec's at low power draw debate serialkiller got all worked up about.
Lastly, bullcrew, how did you get your eliminator to frost? That would require you going way below dew point past condensation. To my knowledge i wasnt aware the eliminator had that kind of capacity.
Chiller and Pump Module
Heatsink
Design: Dual dissipation plate, anodized alloy
Dimensions: 121 x 92 x 65 mm
Surface Area: 366,912mm²
Weight: 800gTECs (6)
Power usage: Max total 56 Watts
Design: Six solid-state heat pump wafers
Dimensions: 40 x 40 x 3.5 mm (each)
Weight: 20g (each)
That is the TEC's for the eliminator. How is that possible to bring the coolant down that low to frost point. Im kinda lost. Sorry if it seems like im instigating. Its just a lot of things your claiming and stating dont make sense with TEC's.

The only explanation I could think of is that the CPU wasn't turned on :stick:

The last pic is just a standard FreeZone modified for SLi cooling. It has been out for some time but never really caught on.

I would like to know how you biought an Elite from Frys. I have just been told by CoolIt that they have not been released for sale yet.Etailers are advertising them, but they do NOT have them for sale. I was given a per-production model for testing last week. AS you can see in the photos that were posted here,it has the control module mounted on the unit itself because the MTEC software and control modules are not ready yet.So please tell me how you accomplished buying a Elite from Frys?? They told me that they have not recieved any yet,let alone sold one. Lets see your photos of your elite?? They do not even have the black face plates yet, that why the test model they gave me had the silver one. I have the photos of mine, and test results which will be posted in my parters and mine's Review at www.nordichardware.com by Thursday or Friday the lastest. I OCed a QX6800 to 3.5GHz and on high setting did not break 30c at idle and only hit 34c underload. So lets see your machine with the elite.

When you stress a quadcore, you need to post the screenie or give us all the cores independant temps.
You just said 1 temp, was that the lowest? or the highest? or the medium out of all 4 cores? Also, what ambients did you run the test at? What was your vcore voltage? actual and real? What stress program did you use to load up all 4 cores and how long did you stress the machine out to reach apex in temp?
Your missing too much info on your review.
Also for a more better review it would be nice to know the air temp of the intake and exhaust.
Otherwise im still very skeptical about this product. A medium class water unit will most likely be a better route to go since it requires no external power source minus pumps and fans.

It's awesome has plenty of room...
You could take out the hard drive cage's and place you elite in the bottom section 120mm fan that would be sick!!

I got their eliminator to frost a cpu
Did you modify it?
Without modding I dont see how it could be done...
Even without a CPU attached I've never seen one of these drop below freezing
doesn't it use water as it's coolant? So if it were cold enough to frost a cpu, the liquid inside would be at or below freezing?
Sorry to be so harsh but I dont think that's possible with how weak the older freezone is. Only way I could see it happening is modification, in which case you may as well just build a better tec setup to begin with.
I hate to be a troll, but I highly doubt this guy has ever messed with any of coolit's products. He doesn't have any of his pictures for one, secondly, it's near impossible to get frost to get on the eliminator (two reasons, the controller won't allow it for one, that's a big reason, and secondly, even if you took out the controller, if you study tecs, then you'll know that with the strength they have and the heatload put out by cpus, you'd realize the eliminator doesn't have enough power to reach temps where water condenses)

A friend of mine just got the Freezone Elite & it's in silver aluminum...thought the Elites would be out in black...how come?
The review samples are the original versions, and thus don't have the black face plates yet, that's why the pictures of the one I posted have the silver face plate:up:

doctor_death, I got Freezone Elite about 3 weeks ago from CoolIT and wanted to post my results which are very different from yours...
My PC:
OS: VISTA 64BIT
CPU: QX6850
MOBO: Asus Striker Extreme
MEM: 4GB
CASE: CM STACKER 830
PSU: 850 Watts
GPU: EVGA 8800 ULTRA
Monitor SOFTWARE: Everest Ultimate
ROOM TEMP: 25C
My Results:
QX6850 @ 3.66, vcore 1.425, Room Temp 26C
High fan cpu 21 idle, 49 load. Increase of 28C
High fan core#1 31 idle, 61 load. Increase of 30C
Medium fan cpu 34 idle, 54 load. Increase of 20C
Medium fan core#1 45 idle, 68 load. Increase of 23C
I checked Nordichhardware's review and below are their results
QX6800 @ 3.52
High fan 27 idle, 34 load. Increase of 7C
Medium fan 36 idle, 42 load. Increase of 6C
Low fan 39 idle, 50 load. Increase of 11C
This to me is very odd that my increase in temp from idle to load is high 20's for High fan setting and low 20's when i put Medium fan setting. Where as Nordichardware results are less than 11C in increase from Idle to Load.
Although I expect to have different temps since we have different CPU's, but the high difference in temp from idle to load is what puzzles me...
Any ideas.... ?

Subscribed to see where this leads to. Maybe I will see if Coolit is willing to send me review sample for me to actually put it through rigor of my load testing standard... I think I still have business card from last CES somewhere...

I had the Eliminator on my q6600. It idled my 3.2 oc at 16 c an under full load on prime it was 45c-50c. So I got to 3.7 3.8 area an it couldnt keep it cool under full load it reached 80c after about 15 minutes. I shut it down went back to 3.2 an the Eliminator died after 28 days of ownership.
Luckily It was within 2 days of Microcenters 30 day return policy an I returned it an bought the Ocz Vindicator $55 (they were sold out of the Tunig Tower)to hold me over till I bought a water cooling setup. An to my suprise the air cooling Is better than the Coolit Eliminator. I can stress test at 3.6 with temps at 72c with a better fan than the 40 cfm one that comes with the vindicator.
There higher end models may cool it better but I wouldnt even waste my money. Id save up the differance to buy a Asetek vapochill.
The funny thing was when I was at microcenter I put together a $230 usd watercooling set up an the guy talked me out of it to buy the eliminator wich was only $175 an said that it will be alot better than watercooling. He was way off eh....

Eliminator couldnt handle a amd 4600+ dual core @ 2.9ghz (1.5v)
It definitely wouldn't handle a quad.
The thermalright extreme would out perform it
No it doesn't get near 0C, not even sub15C idle on a B3 quad. The original Freezone had massive problems above 3.3GHz with B3 quads (full load testing, I never let it go over 55/56/57C), it would run too hot. Idle was very good but load delta was very bad and apart from the highest fan speed, it was very inefficient. Not to mention the noise and power draw.
The new one is not technically specfied much better so I highly doubt it can do much more. Maybe 200-300Mhz more at best.
