Its a new zalman heatpipe with an optional fan attachment which you could probably put a better fan in there :D

its just the same heatpipe but they add pins to hold the sinks in place, and the fan costs extra.
not worth it IMO.
its a good sink, but i dont think they made it to last long. at least you cant pull it on and off to many times or the screws would strip out.

my friend has one on his R9500 NP, the things are junk in my opinion. :(

they cool better then most sock coolers for sure.. if you get a colored one then they look cool..
i might buya chrome one and mod a 80mm fan on the side. cuz i dont have rom to use 2-3 pci slots for a cpu cooler :\

I have now the same thing for review. Wanna mount it on my Ti4600, cos i don't htink it would be good idea to place it on raddy with 2.05V:)
Maybe this evening i'll have some results...

putting a fan directly over the source of heat is the most effective..
making heat travel tru a huge lump of a metal is just increasing the thermal resistance....
I rather strap a P3 heatsink over a GPU and chuck a 60mm delta over it

Hm...they also redesigned the fins to allow easier airflow...

Ragnarok.
Lol. Zalman tried to make silent (well, at least low-noise) solution :D

hehe, silent.. but crap for 3dmarking :D

go try one and we'll see how bad it it? if you put a nicer fan on it, its probably pretty good. if i can find a retailer i would try it out.
I think this (http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thersk61.html) is better and only 9$.

i have one of those, but you have to custom drill it and all that work. :(
im gonna put on of those on later tomorrow

i've tested this new zalman with Ti4600. Well, i haven't checked temps but maximum reachable clocks = stock cooler.
Zalman was used eith 2x 80mm coolers - one on front side and one on the back. Stock cooled was enhanced in the same way. 325MHz unmodded both.
By the way - this Zalman will cause troubles for those who use mem heatsinks...

aye, that zalman fan by the way is not quiet any way. And without it my rig got stuck on stock clocks after 30 minutes - heatsink was _really_ hot! Damn +30C summer time...

so this gadget is definitely not for 3dmarking...

lol are you serious? maybe the heatpipe wasnt in properly?

of course i'm serious. And it ALL was hot - front, rear, heatpipe... Everything...

I have one, and it works well.

indeed, alot of cards died with that Zalmanheatsink.
watch out without a fan.
I've tried that Zalman heatsink on my 9800PRO and it was bad :)
The heatsink it hot as hell and I think your better off with a SK6/Other good small heatsink.
The construction is really cheap and I dont trust that heatpipe, i tried mounting it again and really sticking the heatpipe in the right position, same results.
With 92mm Zalman fan @ 12V it would go to ~450MHz.

hm.... i know a guy with a 9700p and a zalman and all ive heard is good results and 21k with it.

Ok. I tested Zalman+Ti4600 once more today (after i killed my r9800), this time on my benching rig. It is not so bad when used with 3x 80mm and it was cool during tests but 330MHz still unreachable. Even when i cool it down to almost room temp with 40cm domestic fan...
So i've got nice 16750 with unmodded Ti4600, but nothing more...
My final verdict ('cause i'm not gonna test it more) is: Zalman's heatsink is very interesting thing for HTPC builders and silence lovers. But for benching it is not better then stock cooler.
P.S. Just to check that i'm not stuck on 325MHz because of vidcard core, with watercooler it worked @ 332 month ago;)

yes, I still stand by my thought, those things are definatly not for benchmarking or anything, they are meant for people who want a quiet PC and care less about Temps.
this will get you by, but nothing more :(

so you suggest an SK6+ and a 70mm fan or so would be much better?
An SK6 provided it could me mounted to make proper contact with the core, would cool fairly well. A lot better than any passive or stock cooling solution.
