View Full Version : TRUE120 + Antec 900 owners...which way does your TRUE point?

I'm trying to see if it'll be worth while for me to change the orientation of my TRUE inside my Antec. As it sits now, the TRUE is pointing toward the back case fan and I'm wondering if the temps would drop (even a * or so) if I tried to point it up.
Now, before you tell me to try, it may involve removing the mobo to remount, so I'm trying to get experiences from others before I disassemble the rig.
So, if you've had it mounted both ways, which way resulted in lower temps?
Thanks all

I can't answer your question but I've used two cases now where I didn't need to remove the motherboard as the backplate held in place rather well.
from what I gather if you have low airflow fans it is best to have the TRUE pointing upwards.

removing and re-mounting the heatsink wont be too difficult. give it a whirl
when i rotated mine to experiment my temperatures went up. but then again the rear fan exhausting is much more powerful than the powersupply fan. if the fan above shifts alot of air then it could make all the difference.
post any results
was wondering this myself. It's kinda hard to get your hands around the TRUE to screw it in. I was thinking that I had to remove the MB to rotate it as well.

deffinately remove the motherboard out of the case. well i guess its motherboard dependant. my cpu socket is close to the PSU and rear of the case
however i did see a picture of an install, i believe on this forum, where the cpu socket was more middle of the board, making it easier to work on a heatsink installation
in an antec 900 the psu wont be above so i guess you have a bit more room than i have to begin with. also i got large hands and wrists, but if your like my friend with boney girl arms then it would be easier! :ROTF:

My CNPS9700 points up and the airflow is much better.

I "could" remove/reinstall the TRUE with the mobo still in the case, but it will be much more cumbersome.
BTW, the PS is in the bottom in the 900. The 200mm fan sits at the top while the 120mm fan sits in the rear of the case.
let me know how it goes san~man, so if it works for you I'll try it out lol

Mine is pointed towards the rear of the case. It would be worse for me to point it up, because I accidentally stuck my finger in the top fan with it running and I broke a blade off :(

OK. I'm going to wait until my MX2 gets here first before I try to reposition it.
Ah, nice choice! I used MX-2 on mine :)
