Hey all.

Ive got an Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLI in which the upper pci-e slot doesn't seem to be working.

Is there a decent vga cooler that won't cover the pci slot just below it?
I was looking at the Thermalright V1 Ultra, but I didn't know if there was something better out there.

thanks

you need a single slot cooler, but since you are mounting it ona lower slot that means the above space is clear?

If so, use an HR-03 in rear mounted mode

http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/main_support_installation_hr03_rev_a_MCL.htm

if you scroll down you can see it hooked round the back, rear mounted + 25mm thick fan is about 2 slots rear, and single slot on the front

also for future reference, front mounted method takes up 4 slots inc 25mm thick fan.

you can choose practically any fan you want, 120mm with fit with default clips even though there is no mention of it.
Performance is the best IMO for aircooled.

Downside - the room it takes up, but for most people its fine.
price too, a bit pricey and you need your own fan.

For your 7950GT the V1-Ultra, which is much cheaper than the HR-03, should be more than enough. ;)

How does the HR-03 do passice? I have side mounted case fans that blow right across the vid card. Would it do well enough with just that flow?

And any thoughts on combining either the HR-03 or the V1-Ultra with the HR-11 back cooler?

Woe. Only retail V1-Ultra froogle.google comes up with is as expensive as the HR-03. Cheaper one on Ebay. Grr. $16 shipping.

What about the V1?

Found one for $12 before shipping. Were they any good?

Ultra V1 is alright, certainly handle a 7950GT

if you have direct side panel airflow it should be possible to use the HR-03 without fan too.

V1-Ultra for 12.95 $ + shipping. And a great shop, too. Had them send me some parts over to Germany and everything went absolutely smooth. I can only recommend ordering there.

Yep.
Found that last night. Makes me very happy. Ordered it and an HR-05 for the NB.

Thanks a lot for the info guys.
