hi guys! my GTX was 1.95Vram stock after 975mhz i artifact. bumped the voltage up to 2.0 same thing... 2.07 same thing. 2.2 still artifact.
im using a MCW60 block on my GFX w/ swiftech ram sinks on the ram. what do you guys think is wrong? seems like i see alot of stock GTX w/ stock coolers breaking 1000mhz. and volt modded getting around 2100 or so.
i also had another GTX that maxed out at 975mhz but i didn't volt mod it as it went in for RMA service.

ram speeds are funny things....read this guide to overclock your 8800GTX...it is very helpful and will explain all the ram speed issues to you.

read the whole thing :( didn't learn anything new. ive done all my memory checks at stock clock speeds just to make sure it wasn't affecting the speed. has anyone had their GTX overclock so poorly?

What did you use to raise the voltage?

was lazy and just did a pencil mod on the ram its self. checked the voltage and it read 2.2v. didnt feel like pulling hte card out again(too many damn coolant lines...) and soldering a VR on it. :D
oh and richard thanks for the help.

Can you post a pic of the pencil mod?

i erased my pencil marks and my voltage is now 2.03v... did you want me to pencil it and take a photo? kind of a hard place as my case is a lil cramped. or did you want teh pencil mod guide i followed?
i followed the VR-zone guide:
http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4296&s=1
http://resources.vr-zone.com/Shamino/8800gtxvmod/2.jpg
the voltage was going up every with every line i did with teh pencil. is this the wrong spot?
I used these points a voltage checks.

also this is strange i will turn on pc go into bios check voltage... shut computer off adjust the VR check voltage while in bios... till 1.45v then i boot into windows it will sit at around 1.40v and i will open up ati tool it will run for a sec w/ 3d rotation and i can watch the voltage on my multimeter slowly falling to 1.22v(my stock load voltage). whats going on.... if i reboot its still set at 1.22v. when i check the ohm w/ computer on im reading 0ohm resistance. before i started up i was reading ~32ohm i believe. (35ohm was factory). this is on my VGPU not my vram. my vram stays at what i set it to. however when i increase my VGPU my vram goes up slightly.... so if i set 1.45 i get ~ 2.03v vram now when my vgpu decrease to 1.22load my vram stays at 2.03v... is it me or is this card haunted?

You may have just got a card that doesn't overclock it's memory as well. The only other thing I can suggest is to maybe try to edit the bios and try more relaxed timings. But just remember that all cards are differet when it comes to overclocking, thoug having said that, both of may cards got to 660Mhz core and 2100Mhz memory on the stock cooler.

yeah just thougth mien was amazingly low haha. fixed my votlage problem on my VGPU ends up my solder busted off on my ground. just fixed that up. foudn it odd hte other card i got got to 975 as well. evga just using crappy video memory? ill try loosening the timings tonight as well

hey update! i am sitting at 2.02v @ 1080 30sec no artifact! before it was instant artifact. looks like some reason ... my vgpu starving for power was affecting my memory. thats realllyyy odd.

neeed to bump my vgpu voltage 0.02 more... but 702/1674 1053 now after fixing that ground... thanks everyone that helped out! i really appreciate it.
