trying to decide on ram for two builds. Home system will likely be subject to overclocking. Ballistix seems like the obvious choice here. Second system is going to be used at my office and didn't plan to overclock. Just want something super stable.
Now here's my question. As I'm not too familiar with timings, I mean I know at least it's clock cycles of the ram, and have messed with some overclocking of older athlons but don't truly understand the impact of lower timings. Am I better off going with lower timings of say the geil esoteria @ 3-3-3-8 and run at default timings or ballistix and run them 1:1 with whatever processor I decide on. Either q6600 1066 or e6850 1333. Obviously 1333 results in more expense, but expense isn't necessarily a huge factor but I don't have an unlimited budget.
I guess real bottom line here is I'm not sure what difference I would notice running 1:1 @ say 5-5-5-15(I guess) compared to (2:3 I think?) @ 3-3-3-8. Below is link to the geil ram, and don't think I need to provide for the ballistix, but will say would be using the 800 and not 1066 unless possibly I went with the 1333 e6850 and then try to get up to 1333.

Open to all opinions and just trying to make the right decision on the two builds and learn up on the technology at the same time. I've been out of it for a while. Currently on a Athlon XP 3k+, 2gb ddr at home and it's doing the job, but enough is enough, time for a new build.
Looking forward to the replies :)
