So what have you guys (who have this) done to deal with the heat spreader not contacting the IC's?

Take off the heat spreader completely
RMA
fix it somehow? (eva's blow-drier method :P - did it work?)

I got a pair from newegg the other day and both of them have this horrible contact.. one of the modules one side doesnt look like its even touching.. and when I press it down, it sticks for a second and then pops back outwards. I have another pair I got months ago, and those were mounted perfectly.

Test them first... If this is a good set dont change them, you could end up with worse dimms.

Well I stuck them in 4x1 and things went fine. No OC of course, but boot up and detection were good. There must be a way to fix the heat spreader. Gonna take it off and re-apply it. It's possible that Arctic Alumina thermal adhesive may do the trick :P But then that would be bad if RMA issues arose later down the road.
