I've pretty much decided that I'm going to get this:

Asus Maximus Formula SE
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131221&Tpk=maximus%2bformula

I would like to get ddr2-1066 but not sure what would give the most stable oc results. Here's what I been lookin at:

OCZ Reaper
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131221&Tpk=maximus%2bformula

Crucial Ballistix
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148069

Crucial Ballistix Tracer
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148069

Any suggestions as to whether these are good choices for the board or not? I also read that the D9 chips are dying out under only 2.2v, is that true? Suggestions would be appreciated. I'm putting a Q6600 on it as well, if that helps.

For best OC you need Micron D9g-series chips on your memory modules...

... and I know it sounds inbelievable but true: somebody actually made a list of almost all available memory modules and their respective chips.

yes, it's true: http://ramlist.ath.cx/ddr2/

Wow! Thanks for that list, that's very handy. Also all those memory modules I linked have D9G series chips on them. Would I be safe to assume they will work on the Maximus Formula?

Yes most likely. Id pick the Ballistix PC8500 (Tracer if you do like leds :D ).

I was starting to lean toward the Ballistix since I've heard such good things about them, and then on the other hand OCZ has the lifetime warranty if something should go wrong. I guess I'm just going to have to pick some and try, if they're not compatible I'll return em.

Just bought a 2x1GB G.Skill kit from GAR - it's PC6400 but runs 1167M Hz@2.35V in the Maximus, according to his tests.

In other words you can save lot of money if you ignore the 'official' binning, the PCXXXX numbers and go with some proven, D9G-series modules.

That is a very good point.
