Hi!!i have a pair of d9gkx 800 crucial value memory!!!Above 2.3v and even at 533 5-5-5-5 they simple can't bench!!!I have tested up to 2.55 but i have the exact same problem, they boot but they can't bench!!!Any body knows if they have voltage protection or something like this???I also flashed them the cellshock 1000-4-4-4-4,corsair 1200 5-5-5-5 and corsair 800 3-9-3-9 spd with no luck!!!

The Micron D9 chips can become damaged even at 2.3v. Going higher for more than a few minutes will definitely kill them. Your memory might be going bad. Test each stick alone and see what you get at 2.3v.

i have tested each of them and they do the same thing!!!And i don't think 2.3v and above would kill them!!!I have seen many people here give them 2.7 and more just for benching!!!

Running 24/7 and running 2.7v for 30 minutes for benching is very different. Above about 2.3v the chips get hot and basically start to melt. How long have you had these sticks?

I don't use 2.3 and above for daily use, just for benching(my fault i didn't mention it before)!!They have worked only 5-6 hours!!And about 1-2 hours totaly at 2.4!!And As for the heat they haven't heatspreaders and i have in top them two 8cm fans and they are very cold!!So i don't think this is a heat problem!!!I just find it weird cause above 2.3 they boot normaly but when i try to run memtest the motherboard shutsdown emediatly!!And i have the same problem even at 2.55 without any difference!!!Thats why i ask if they have voltage protection or something like this!!!

Tried on different mobo aswell ?

This reminds me of a recent experience with a Commando.
Which motherboard are you using ?
Have you tried another pair of RAM ?

So OCZ and other manufacturers sell highly binned memory that will definitely be killed?

I have dfi infinity 965-s,and it gives very stable voltages!!!!Though when i bought them i tested them in my friends mobo aw9d!!They first booted at 2.2v and then we gave 2.4 and overclocked them a little to see how they act!!The thing is that they worked fine till 840 3-3-3-4 but that was the first boot and they worked only 10 min on this mobo,so i don't realy know if it is a motherboard issue!!But dfi has very stable and smooth voltages,i find it really difficult to blaim the motherboard!!!

It's called electro(n)migration. You enhanced and boosted the strenght of the signal with higher voltage to the limit the signal starts switching to the paralel transistor and thus causing internal damage you don't see it with bare eye.

I have a pair of 6400 ballistix.MIne don't respond at a voltage above 2.35V.At 2.35 they can do memtest, but not a desired frequency .So now i'm burning them in at 2.25V,incrementing the FSB in small steps, and leaving memtest for 7-8 hours.

I didn't understand much:p: !my english aren't so good!!When you say internal damage you mean to the memory or the power mosfet of the motherboard!!!

To the memory ICs i mean.
h3x0r_1984 - this is because you have D9GMH, they dont like higher voltage than 2.4-2.45V anyway (CAS5-5-5-x perhaps 2.5V).

But how all these people use 2.4 or higher for benching!!!!The fault i've done was that i pushed them from their begining???Because if it is that i'll burn them and send them for rma:D;) !!!Or some burnin may help???

Those symptoms doesn't look like EM tiborrr.
@hvtecgr
Try them on another board.
And try combinations such as:
DDR2-1000 4-4-4-12 @ 2.4V
DDR2-1200 5-5-5-15 @ 2.275V
D9GKX don't like more voltage than needed most of the times ( for example my super talent t1000ux2g4 kit does ddr2-1200 @ 2.2V, but crashes/totally unstable at ddr2-1200 @ 2.3V ;)

 :ROTF:
Maybe its a PCB problem. High End Ram uses 6 Layer or even 8 Layer PCB. Crucial Value uses a Standard PCB.
BTW, for my Crucial Value with D9GMH i cannot see any big improvements over 2.3-2.35V also. So i think its related to the PCB.

When I had my striker extreme, voltages over 2.2 would cause my ram to go unstable. I would b able 2 have my ram stable at 2.2 but with the exact same settings at 2.3v they would fail memtest.
Some ram doesn't respond well to higher voltages. Though this might not b your case you should still keep that in mind.
My crucial values GKX benched fine at 2.8V and 600MHz 4-4-4-x

How about 2.15v @ ddr800? I had a set die running that in a month.

If you exceed voltages for along period of time, yes. We warranty up to 2.3v. I wouldn't run that 24/7 IF you don't have to. Short periods of benching are different. Running 2.4v+ 24/7 is asking for trouble.
Just the facts, man.

2.15v is great 24/7. I run 2.2v 24/7 at 1066 speeds. No failures yet.

This sounds like a good point. The economy PCB may well be the problem.

There could be a logical reason this is value RAM too. It could be a VERY low GKX bin, which is why they ended up on a value DIMM. This late in game with a long running IC, there's no telling what you may be getting.

nobody is mentioning the fact he says he has flashed the spd's several times with different brands timings.and i still am wondering if he means 533 as in 266 x2 or 533 which would be 1066 on 800 mhz value ram.

One of the gkx chips that love high voltage are Cellshock. They just simpley dont wanna die :D I had Cellshock ddr2 1000 c5, and i was runing them at 2.4v minimum and up to 3.2v ( 535mhz- cas3:cool: ).And they were running just fine that 6 monthes that i haved them, and they are still running in my friends computer ( now on 2.3v ).

HI jimmyz!!!I mean 2x266 and not 533x2!!:) And now the last spd flash is the cellshock 1000 4-4-4-12!As for the pcb i don't believe crucial makes different pcb's for balistx!!As for the low bined chips i don't think this either is true cause at 1000 4-4-4-12 with only 2.25 i'm stable for 8m pi and cellshock says 2.4v!!But i will test them again tommorow in abit to see if there is a difference!!!

Hello I have Corsair dominator modules and they work t perfectly at 500Mhz Cas 4 at 2.2V for 9 months .
My pc has not been used for a month or so i was buzzy at school and so and i fired it up again and was looking at the capability's of these modules. but today i have nothing to do so i want to try the 1m 3.6GHz challenge and it didn't booted at 500mhz cas 4. I have tried some different voltages but it always worked fine at 2.2V but not anymore are these sticks dying due the voltage are going true them??

Please post your question here at the Corsair section: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=233
Also, please list your complete system specifications and list ALL of the information from the sticker on the modules.

I've tested them to abit!!!Unfortunately at 2.72 they run fine even at memtest!!!So it's the motherboard!!!The voltages dfi gives are fine!!I talked with benchzoner today at the o/c event here and he has the same problem as me but with a commando!!!So chipset problem????Anyone else with the sameproblem on 965???
