Ok i've been thinking about this build for a while and heres what i got. the only thing i am not sure of is whether to go for the asus P5K deluxe of Maximus formula SE
Case: Cool Master Stacker 830
Processor: Intel Quad Core Q6600 G0 stepping
Motherboard: Either a P5K deluxe or maximus
Ram: OCZ 2gb plantinum edition
PSU: Corsair 620HX
GPU: evga 8800ultra
Hard drivers: probably 4 250WD sata 2's in raid 0 with a 750GB for data
Sound Card: audigy extreme fatality
Mouse: G7
Keyboard: Microsoft Wave
So the only thing i am confused towards is the MB. I've heard nothing but good things about the maximus, but at the same time i dont want to deal with the hastle of trying to find one, when the p5k is more readily available. As for the HD's, i can get some 160GB for cheap so i will probably just hook those up in a raid 0 config. Also, for CPU cooling, i was thinking a turniq tower 120, i will be oc'ing my q6600 to around 3.5 ghz if possible
Any thoughts?

that is bad ram go for crucial balistex, its much better than the ocz trash
wait till nov 12th the new 12mb l2 quad cores are almost here it would be a disappointment when u miss out on 30% faster clock to clock and a way better oc
and for mb go for the dq6 x38 its better and cheaper than the maximus

i really dont feel like waiting another month, and the Q6600 will give me more then enough performance. I looked into the dp6, you dont mean the x38t do you? and from comparing the two, i cant see a huge difference, not many reviews are out on them either.

I've not tried the RAM you have there, but I do know I have my Crucial Ballistix at 5-5-5-15 and 1066MHz. I could overclock it some more or maybe tighten up the timings, I'm just kinda lazy. :P

OCZ Platinum is garbage. If you have to have OCZ, get the Reaper DDR2-800 kit. Crucial Ballistix is preferred when it comes to DDR2 ;)

To tell the truth when it came to the ram i just closed my eyes and clicked on the first OCZ ram i saw. I've heard that OCZ is one of the top ram's available, but also heard great things about the crucial Ballistix. With the timings, the lower the number the better? Also, i plan on over clocking this system, but never overclocked ram before, is it diffucult to do?

crucial has some 800mhz 4-4-4-12 2.2V for $60 affter rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146565
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AA804 - Retail
and 1066 5-5-5-15 for $100 affter $30 rebate, its just a higher binning than the 800mhz so ether will get u up and ocing to 1.1-1.2ghz 5-5-5-15 2.2-2.3V, and they all have micron d9 dimms while ocz uses promos and epedia witch are cheaper than the micron but dont perform well for ocing or stability under low timeings

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AA1065 - Retail
and on ocz they made thier name from ddr1 but affter they went pubic on the london stock exchange they have had bad quality and uncompetitive pricing (probly to increase profits adn up teh stock, but its killing customer loyalty)

Only reason to go X38 over P35 is PCI-E 2.0. If you see yourself upgrading your vid card before anything else I guess go for X38 over P35. I imagine the performance will go up, as well as OC potential with further BIOS updates anyways.

The main reason i went for the x38 is because its newer and more future proof. In the future i will upgrade my vid card, depends on how well the 9800's are.
