I use stainless thermoses all the time. This will only hold 1L. I have heard it is possible to use a large cooler. I will note that I would see this as being dangerous due to the LN2 spalshing and it wouldn't be a good idea to seal either the cooler or thermos due to LN2 boiling off and creating pressure in the container. When I use thermoses I have them uncovered.

Well.. you can use a dewar instead of a dewar ;) I personally wouldn't fool around with that stuff, perhaps you could use a vacuum thermos but transporting an open container of LN2 in a vehicle just sounds like a recipe for frostbite if there's an accident. Can't just rent a small dewar from the company for a weekend?

The Praxair dealer where I lived offererd to fill a cooler for me before I got my dewar... I'm not recommending this, but if you only have to go 1/4mi., then you can probably get by IF your dealer will do that.
Just use a large cooler without a locking lid, stick it in the trunk or back of a pickup truck and drive slowly ;)
Like harley pointed out, whatever you use, don't have it tightly sealed, you have to let the pressure of the boiling ln2 escape.
Large vacuum thermoses should be fine.
I've got one that at least 2-3L big.
