My IC7's temperature reads my 2.4 @ 3.0 as 57C underload but the heatsink is cool to the touch...

Is there any way to fix the thermal diode or how much is it off by?

I think Opp said it was 10-14c, compared to the other 875 boards he tried. Abit claimed they are set up exactly like Intel recommends for reding temps, but can't speculate on how the other mobos are reading temps.

The problem I have with using the "touch the H/S" method, is that if the comp says 70c, and the H/S is cool, most people assume it's an error in the sensors or monitoring chip. Where it could be that the H/S is not making good contact.

If you use an external thermistor to the bottom of the H/S near the core, and compare it to the internal diode temp, the difference is approx 15c. I did this test on both my Celeron 366 on BX, and on my 2.26 on a TH7-II, both indicated the same 14-15c difference.

Pull the H/S as a precaution to make sure you are getting good contact !!!

BUT on my IC7 at 1.7v on H2O I see 55c through MBM 5, I can compensate for it in MBM5, but I don't bother. If it's cooler than it reads, great. If it is not, then I won't be needlessly fooling myself :)

i see approx 12 celcius diff between my IC7 and my MSI 865PE
