Starting a new build that will bring me into a few new areas. I've played with overclocking and watercooling in the past but nothing that I would say is even on a "competent" level. To start with I'd like to get some quality materials and sage advice.
As it sits right now my shopping list is:
Q6600
P35 mobo
2GB PC6400 ram
Antec Neo HE 550w PSU
8800GTS
SATA HHD
I guess my main question is model P35 mobo comes with the best OC performance? I'm looking to stick with just one PCI-E X16 for budget reasons (would really like to keep the mobo to ~$150).
Overall I would like to spend around $1200 total. Later on I plan on getting some WC but that's for another part of the forums. :)

wait for nov 12th the new grafix will make it worth the 1 month wait
and u may want to get the gigabyte dq6 x38 its like $210 with pci-e2 and better ocing than the p35 by a small amount
also look at the balsitex ddr2 800mhz cas 4 on new egg its like $55 now for a 2gb kit

you can get Abit IP35 Pro. it costs about $180. Asus P5K-E is a bit cheaper (~$150), but it's also good enough for overclocking. and if're going to overclock Q6600 try to get that G0 stepping and think about cooling.
ater on I plan on getting some WC
it's a good idea.

P5K-E or DS3P (Gigabyte) should be fine.
$1200 is a big budget though, so most likely you'll everything in the rig by $900 and will have the rest for a w/c kit :)

The only thing that i, maybe, change in your build is the PSU, if you are thinking in overclocking your system.
This doesn´t mean that the PSU that you chosed is not good, but i think it can get "short" if you want to add, for example: extra HDD; WC; Fans, etc.

I actually found a pretty nice (well it looks that way) power requirement calculator for my system and according to that the Neo should be able to handle the 3.5 OC to the Q and a GTX along with 2 HDD and a WC system.
And actually i got pretty close to the $1200 mark after I put everything in my newegg shopping cart. (I put XP discs in there since my laptop that i'm forced to using right now doesn't have any.)
I got the calculator here http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp.
BTW thanks for the mobo recommendations. Any fanboys have some numbers to say whether the Gigabyte or Asus is better? :)

it depends on what is preferable for you :). anyway both Asus and Gigabyte boards from one price range are almost the same.

ASUS and Gigabyte were once the same... but basically, by now, the Gigabyte would be a little better in their functions and overclocking capabilities in a few areas and in price... oh and for the PSU Calculator... that's BS, don't believe that, it's way too much power for what is really a need in that calculator :shakes: Take the number the calculator gives you and reduce it by a lot... it's way more realistic... seriously...

So essentially this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128067) is better than this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131196). The $10 difference is all performance and not having to deal with intergrated wifi? Thanks for the help. :)
