Seagate has released a new hybrid hard drive. This new drive adds the speed of a solid state drive to the conventional hard drive. Originally designed for laptops this new drive comes in 80, 120, and 160 GB flavors and features 256MB of flash memory

Good news, maybe we will finally se them working around on the testbeds soon and maybe they will even even be worth as an intermediate upgrade point before SSD.

I was hoping for a gig or two of flash memory. Perhaps even up to 4GB, so the entire page file or swap partition could be put on it.

So does the 256MBs behave basically as hard drive cache?

"160 GB and 256MB of flash memory" is a freaking joke.

I'll reserve judgment until benchmarks become available. Speaking of which I can't find any reviews. Are these things out?
