Whats the general consensus regarding VID value?

I have a G0 Q6600 and mine is 1.3000

from what I've read, lower VID doesn't necessarily mean that you will get higher clocks as opposed to a q6600 with a higer VID. The only advantage that a lower VID quad is that its temps are lower because of the lower voltage..

Generally the lower the VID, the better the silicon is and it will do its rated speed at lower volts, which in turn *usually* means it'll OC a bit better.

What he said. But, remember a lower VID is no guarantee on the OCability of the chip.

I just can't get this chip stable @ 3.8ghz under water.

One core fails 5 HRS into prime.

May swap the chip out for one with a lower VID to see if this makes any difference. Its certainly not my temps with 52c full load.

just to share mine..OCCT stable at 3.8GHz with 1.55V bios set. it has a VID of 1.300V.. usually when OCCT stable even for just 30 mins cpu and ram, translates to an error free prime95 run in my experience..

IT WAS looking like there was a correlation, then G0 came out, and blew all that oyut of the water. Ealier B2 and B3 chips might behave in suc ha fashion...most high-clocking G0's have been 1.35v cpus.

Lower Vid = Higher Temperature. My quad vid 1.2625 @ 3.88ghz with 1.54v

yep..

low VID = high Temp + high clock (or lower voltage for same clock)
high VID = low Temp + low clock (or higher voltage for same clock)

mine is 1.265 vid and does 3.82 with 1.6v

Is that Prime stable?

Before the G0 Stepping 1.225VID on an E6600 used to mean monster clocks.

With the quads specifically and I believe the G0 generally you don't see the relation as clearly defined. :toast:
