I spent a fair bit on my watercooled setup, but I'm now thinking of going back to aircooled... The ThermalRight Ultra 120 seems top dog at the moment.

Would this be an ok move?

Have noted that the TR-Ultra120 keeps the quads at idle around 44degrees.
And at full load around 59degrees... not bad at all, and all in at around 11db's with a SilentX 120mm 45cfm fan...

Overclocked I would think the full load would be around 65-68degrees and idle around 49-50....

Aircooled boys, whats your view?

(main reason to do this, is to simplify my upgrade path)

Would this be wise?

Personally, the reasons I haven't dabbled in water cooling is because it's too much work for results that are slightly better than the best aircooler on the market. The trend that I have seen is that people on watercooling get about 200mhz+ more out of their CPUs than Air Cooling does.

I have the sam cooler with the sam fan with the same temps :D . My q6600 G0 @ 3500 1,40V 59degrees on full load . @3600 1,4V 60degrees on full load . Mine q6600 can do 4200 Valid and 4160 1M pi with it. It can handle 1,51-1,52V for 3dmark06 . There are a few mods you should do on it, but after these you will have a nearly watercooled CPU :) .

btw : i have a 96CFM fan , with is the temps are lower with 4-8 deegres (depends on load)

*Don't* use Silenx. The only thing you can trust about fans that the manufacturers tell you is RPM and bearing type. Silenx just happens to be REALLY bad about lying about its specs. 45CFM and 11DBA is retardedly impossible for a 120mm fan. Plus the build quality is cheap.

I'd use this fan instead. It's pretty much a better version of an S-Flex, which is one of the best quiet fans around.

Also I have heard good things about the Yate Loon 120MM fans.

Folding 24/7 (project 2653) with the Thermalright 120 Ultra Extreme. Temps will go up in the summer but stay within accepatable limits so I am quite happy with my air cooling. If you have a B3 Quad temps will be higher as you probably already know.:)
