asus has removed all references on its website that indicated it would support prescott cpus!
what now? are they going to say whoops we never said it would support the prescott? or maybe it was just a typo on the site?
:/
gigabyte owners seem to be lucky, their boards do support the prescott . at least thats what they say ;)
funny thing is gigabyte claims they support some specs that intel hasnt even defined :p:

I was talking to someone who works at asus, and he said that Intel threatened them with lawsuits if they didnt remove it.

The reason would be incompatability with the Prescott CPUs?

I would guess so. As of last night they were still claiming compatibility with prescott on one of their motherboards, and the guy who works there said he would be mentining (sp ?) it to them today.

come on intel could designt he prescotts to be compatible with todays chiüpsets easily.... i mean the prescott celerons will support the boards, so why cant they make the real prescotts compatible with the boards available today? of course they could...
im surprised how little most people atually care about intel :smileysex ing them again... well i guess most people here are getting new mobos every 2 months anyway so...

How is that any different that nForce2 and nForce2 revision 2?
KT133, KT133a, KT266, KT266a, KT333, KT400, KT400A, KT600, nForce, nForce2, and nForce2 rev. 2.0...I'm surprised how little most people actually care about AMD :smileysex ing them again...
Sure, I wish Prescott would work on current 875P/865. I could say the same about any number of AMD boards and procs.
As far as this two month crud...875P launched April 14th. Precott will lauch October 26th. Seven months isn't that bad of a run for a motherboard...and that's longer than the nForce2 lasted before revision 2 came out (and that's all Prescott will need...rev 2 boards).

Actually,
I'm looking forward to the Grantsdale chipset.

Me too ;)
I wonder how all this DDR II stuff on Grantsdale will play out.

TBH,
I really don't see C'Wood as much more than "enhanced" dual channel 845PE. Sorry.
Grantsdale should be a real change and along with Prescott or probably Tejas, it will represent a complete change in technology.

another difference is neither AMD or any other company it seems, is capable of producing an actual GOOD chipset for an AMD chip, hence the dozens of revisions which still see them as a spec in the distance compared to the intel chipsets.

huh? there have been lots of good chipsets for amd. kt266a is THE socket a chipset, if you have a card and a hd that can take the high agp/pci speed it performs about as well as the nf2 and it runs up to 210fsb... and that board is really old!
is there really a diference between amd and intel boards regarding the revisions? there are several revisions of all intel boards as well...
