Buidling my 1st Intel rig. Here's what I have picked out so far:
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814130071)
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817703005)
E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16819115029)
Western Digital Caviar 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16822136053)
Microsoft Windows Vista 32-Bit Home Premium (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16832116202)
As for mobo and memory I only have this mobo picked out:
ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813127030)
I definetly would like to overclock, but 24/7 stable overclock. Nothing crazy. Air cooling overclock as well.
As for DDR2 memory, I'm new to the Intel stuff and I've only ever overclocked my 939 rig from 2004.
So basically I'm all ears and up for suggestions. Thanx again.

You can't be wrong with Abit IP35 Pro...;)
What about getting these Buffallo Firestix DDR2 800 MHz (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820150054)(Micron chips)?
It seems a very good purchase.

I'm clueless on what the new stuff is. Are we talking mobo's? I've heard talk about the X38's but that's about it.
As for Vista 64, is there anything it can't run?
I can see this is going to be an educational catchup session in one thread!
Man I'm so far behind!

nvidai has the 8800gt and another chip hat might come out, ati has the 2950 amd has the am2+ duel core and new socketF, and the rd67/80 chipsets, and intel has the x38 and the 12mb quad core pynrens (i forgot the spelling)
adn vista 64 runs everything but some oc utilitys and there is a 32bit be, just get be dont get home (home is missing core lvl kernel fetures like used groups, advanced vpn suff, dynamic disks and more) all that home gets u is a nurffed kernel and media center and media center dosnt work

Yes. Pretty much all the x38 motherboards should be available by this time. Depending on what cpu you use, x38 may not matter. So far, the x38 seems to clock quad core cpu's real well, but so don't the P35 boards.
I expect that DDR3 prices should start dropping, once the x38 DDR3 boards are available.
If you can wait, you ought to have a real sweet selection of excellent boards/RAM to choose from.
