Hey everyone im having some heating issues with my new BFG 680 sli

my last mobo with the same processor (e4300 intel duo) was an inferior MSI pci-x motherboard that I had to slightly overclock the FSb to get my intel duo 4300 to run at 1.8gig.

it ran at no more then 50C or so while idling in windows, often less then that.

after getting this BFG mobo, processor temperatures have just risen, and i havent changed anything, besides the fan speed its running almost twice the RPM as i used to.

ive talked to the tech and they told me to reapply the thermal paste which ive done, and as i type this im letting it set in, but i only have less then a week to rma this board if any of you think it could be a mobo specific problem.
i mean this board doesnt even have a windows utility for bios update which alarmed me from the begining.

so if anyone has experience with this board id like to hear it

wow i just restarted my computer and CPU temp was roughly 52c before i did(windows mobo utility reading), i went into bios and checked system and it said it was 80c and rising, what the hell is going on? could this be because i have not updated the bios on this

as i type this the bfg utility is reading about 53c cpu temp..any help is appreciated

use core temp beta 95.4 to read temps. And are you sure you've mounted the HSF properly? Your temps are WAY too hig for stock 1.8Ghz even if you are on the stock cooler.

i checked out the core temp program, and it is certainly bad, reading 60 or so C while idling in windows.

the HSF seems to be seated properly i don't know what i could have done wrong there.

i havent used the computer in a few days and when i turned it on i went directly into bios to look at the temperature and it seemed like it started out already in the 55+celsius area, is that even possible after only being on for less then a minute?

it must be because every diagnostic program ive used as well as bios system specs itself have read one way or another too much heat.

i only have a few days to RMA this motherboard if i want to do that, or is that a silly idea that it could be a motherboard problem?

sounds like your hsf is not seated properly....remount it and re-check your temps.
