How to turn a PC on/off without a case?

Dumb question, but I'm setting up my 8RDA+ & XP1700+ for some dry ice cooling- so I'm obviously going to be running outside of any case- on top of a motherboard box to be exact.

Now my question is- how can I turn it on/off without any case stuff? Can I just buy an on/off switch at radio shack and connect it to the two pins on the motherboard for the on/off switch for the case?

You could do that (make sure to get a momentary switch) or you could just short the two pins with a wire or something. I've never tried it, but I see no reason why It wouldn't work.

Yes, you can utilize a momentary switch for RESET and ON/OFF but I use a screwdriver as it costs less. :)

Yepperz, screwdriver is actually what my buddies who are techies at a local puter store use.

Good ole cheapy screwdriver. Hell, even cheaper than that is a paper clip. :doh:

I jus use whatever metal object is in arms reach =) Everything from pieces of wire, bottle caps, to tin foil

ive used screwdrivers, knives, change, paperclips, pins, all sorts of stuff, just connect the powah pins :)
