I don't usually buy ATI cards due to the fact that I hate their drivers. I got a 2600xt for a friend and until he picks it up I get to play with it. I can't find anything to overclock this slow @$$ card. My 7600gts beats this thing. I know it has LOTS more in it, but no tool I've used or driver has let me oc it even .5mhz. WTF? It is a sapphire 2600xt w/ gddr3. What am I doing wrong. This experience has got Nvidia my business for a long time. However, I will use these in all future HTPC's I make. The video quality is amazing, but it stops there.

Help.

Grab an HD 2900 Pro if you want to oc on ATI.

The HD 2600 cards are maxxed out at stock, except for the memory which may/may not have extra mhz left in it

The 8600GT in comparison can oc to GTS speeds, that's why the HD 2600 is cheaper than the 8600 and why we will see an HD 2650 very soon...just as the X1600 was crap slow compared to the 7600GT but the X1650XT equalled the playing field.

Well, the card isn't mine and I've got my eye on a 8600gt, but for the time being I want to get something out of this one. I can't overclock the memory or the core no matter what. I'm trying a new tool now.

let's face it all mid range cards suck ass and really shouldn't be sold as gaming devices at all.... I imagine the HD2600 would be good if you could overclock but that's not the case I'm afraid. Whilst the nvidia mid range are better in gaming they suck ass at movies and after my experience with the 8800 series I'm not too fond of their high end *stutter* either *stutter* for *stutter* gaming *stutter* or *stutter* movies.
Argh sorry for the descent into a rant lol... My post really isn't constructive at all, apart from showing you that you aren't stupid maybe..?! :D

Use PowerStrip 3.75 for overclocking 2600XT cards. It buggy but it works.
Don't forget to check clocks in AMD GPU Clock Tool or ATITool after you set it with PowerStrip. Sometimes PowerStrip set incorrect clocks (/2 or *2) :(
