I'm starting this thread so to help each other with Mods/tips/etc involving this VGA.... :)

First off, here is a SIMPLE WAY for guys that still have 2 x 6pins connectors and they can't make Overdrive to work......

Go and get a "crocodile grabber" like the picture below...... :)

http://www.hipro-tech.com/images/hipro5/ATI_2900XT/Mods/Graber.gif

......and sort circuit the two pins of the VGA as shown in the picture below......

http://www.hipro-tech.com/images/hipro5/ATI_2900XT/Mods/CF_with_6pins.gif

Another tip now....
Make your 2900's fan ALWAYS to work at FULL SPEED......
Get a 1KOhms resistor and place it between the YELLOW and the BLUE cables of the fan like the picture below.....

http://www.hipro-tech.com/images/hipro5/ATI_2900XT/Mods/Fan_Full_Speed.gif

No soldering skills needed for the above "mods"......

I'll come up with more......:)

Basic lessons done, lets get to something more interesting hipro5 ;)

I'm very interested in measurements points for vgpu because I'm getting Pro and silently hopping that it is under volted ;)

@ Origin_Unknown: Yes I think it should be fine.....;)

As soon as I "naked" them, I'll upload much more.....This is a "general" ATI thread so to be all-in-one......:)

Ahhh..... :D

No need.....he can just sortcircuit the 2 "opened" pins of the 8pins connector and that's it....

Hmmmm.........ONE VGA is best on ASUS Blitz DDR3.....CF?.....I'll have to test both(P35 - 975) under LN2 and I'll see.....On air ABIT AW9D-MAX is faster as for 3D with TWO VGAs...;)

Is it really necessary to get a hold of two 8-pin PCIe power adapters?
(mine seem to run fine with the "standard" 2x6-pin PCIe connectors..

if you plug the 8 pin in it lets you use ati overdrive, thats why the mod above is used. (read and you shall see)

the overdrive "only" sets fan speed at 100% then?

I am going to bring this thread up again to ask a burning question:

Crossfire Overclocking in a Vista x64 environment....is it possible without modded BIOS? Perhaps with a hardware mod to trick Vista?

Ah?
You were serious?
There's no such thing as a "coldbug mod".

And yes, a new thread would be more effective.

As a matter of fact, there IS a "cold bug mod" for them........ ;)
I used to work mine at - 140*C BEFORE the mod and then, I worked them at - full LN2 subzero..... ;)
I'll post photos as soon as I find them....... ;)

EDIT: Take a look at the benching temperature in 3D Load..... :)

Details about the mod? What causes the coldbug on R600?

Ironic that suddenly you're interested :D

100 identical threads wouldn't help anyone, it would just make it harder to find what you're looking for ;)
