Hi i have a dead 8800GTX card, but i think i have found the problem.

The resistor in this picture is broken. If its a resistor that is :p

But i dont know what the resistance of it whould be.

Anyone wanna help?

How can i measure on a card thats working to find out whats the resistanse should be? Yes I have a working one, but i dont wanna solder the resistor of that one.

Or can I solder a vr to ground to get the card going?

NOT to ground........:)

For start, place a 33 Ohms resistor OR a 100 Ohms trimmer which will be trimmed to show 33 Ohms resistance....Then you could do the mod on it as for the VGPU..... ;)
BEWARE coz the pads on the PCB you're gonna solder are TOO tiny so you have to be very carefull not to burn them and then you're flucked.....:D

It sound slike the answer to your quesiton is you need to replace the broken resistor with a 33 Ohm one

Thanks for the reply guys.
I changed the resistor but the card still wont work. The machine starts for about 5 seconds and it reboots. No image on the screen. But I have another 8800gtx card here, but it seems that this one has some other components. Look at this...

When i measure this resistor i get about 100 ohms on the broken Asus card. But on the XFX card its 34,2. I dont know what the problem could be or it might just be the way its supposed to be. The resistor is labeled 01A on the Asus card, and 51X on the XFX card.

I would try this with a 1K VR, a very very small wire would work best. Ohm the VR to 35Ω (after it's soldered in) before you start the card.
