Asus P4C-800 Deluxe. 1007 bios...

in Bios I set it to 1.625 volts or more, and it never boots when overclocked. so I wanted to see if the feature even worked, and set the Bios back to defaults, and just change the voltages to 1.65...

and I get it to boot (barely)
I do it by holding the insert key, but not entering BIOS otherwise the boot screen just hangs...

anyways, in windows, I check my voltages and was in complete silence. it's undervolting by .4 of a volt.
set it to .165 and it shows 1.25 in windows...

so I reboot, and sure enough in BIOS harware monitor it's the same...

I set it to 1.7 volts, and same thing happens... 1.3 volts shows up in windows....at this rate, I can set 1.95 volts and only get 1.55 volts (if I felt like taking a chance at destroying my PC)

What in the world happend here?
nothing past 1.6 volts works correctly...

:shakes:

Updating the BIOS did nothing (to the 1008) tried a few more voltages above 1.6, and all have the same problem. .4 undervolting...

emailed Asus...
thats all I can think of :(

EDIT:

is there a CPU overvolt jumper I need to mess with, like the A7V8X had?

I have no manual for this board, never have, so theres alotta jumpers I just have no idea what they do...

What kind of Vcore is BIOS voltage monitoring displaying?
Also might be a good idea to check the actual Vcore using multimeter.

BIOS displays the same thing, I have no idea where to check the voltages with a multimeter though

Vcore can be measured from the Mosfets near the CPU socket (there is a row of caps and the mosfets are next to those caps).

How is the +12V rail ? Did you remember to connect the +12V wire from the PSU? :D

Might be bad board?

Maybe some wierd quirk with your board?

I have a SLK-900 so I can barely get access to the area between the northbridge and I can barely tell what the mosfets area... I was looking at the area right above the CPU socket between the PSU and CPU socket, maybe thats it?

the P4 connection is plugged in as well...

still lost.
