I want to know exactly where I stand with this raid crap on the P4C because its blatantly unfit for its intended purpose since raid-0 is over 30% SLOWER than a single drive when I try to raid-0 2xWD80gb SE's. thats 19mbps in sandra, and a pcmark score of 500 (was 1200 single drive).

So am I entitled to a refund (and/or replacement with a WORKING model, i.e. the P4C800-E) or what? I've had the board 5 weeks and im not paying £160 for a board that doesnt work properly.

As far as I'm concerned the board (and therefore ALL P4C800 Deluxe boards) is faulty by design.

Emailed Asus about the problem and they said my board doesnt have the raid problem, interesting point of view as I sit here typing with a hard disk speed that rivals a baked bean can and some string.

Few suggestions EWOK. memory timing of 2-3-3-6 should be the lowest you can go on any memory or else... ur RAID might act up.
Bios 1009 with new driver is supposed to give you nice improvement.
Last but not least, install PAM and enable write cache. If you have blistering read performance while write isn't that good, you will get write speed that sometimes beats the blistering read speed you see :)
I haven't played much with RAID0 eversince my last OC attempt failure destroying windows. Once I find nice safe zone, I will go back to RAID0 and fool around...

ive taken the stuff out and im not spending hours putting it back in.

and im certainly not prepared to run silly mem timings to get raid to work properly IF thats whats needed.

i did install PAM, couldnt click any options anywhere, looked to me like some sort of remote raid config.

OK for anyone who might have questions on this... I will elaborate a little further on PAM.
It is remote utility... when you install it asks password, etc. You use it to log on to ur RAID server (which is your machine). And from there on... you can delve into RAID controller setting with write caching. Well sorry to hear that you are giving up on the p4c800dlx. Hopefully whatever else you are trying will turn out to be superb :)
I just wish Asus did a little better job with RAID configuration manual so people know exactly how to use it. The performance with it is incredibly good once configured.
