Hi all,

This is my first o/c system since I reconnected the L1 bridges on my athlon 900!!!

So far I've got:

IC7 m/b
2X256mb OCZ EL Gold
9700pro
SLK900 with 92mm YS-Tech 50cfm fan
My case has two 120mm fans 1 inlet at bottom 1 outlet in top
2 Cooldrives sucking in and one psu fan blowing

Now I'm aiming for 250-260fsb with the mem on 1:1 ddr500-520 whichever is possible on my setup.I don't think I'll be able to go too far with my fsb cos I'm only on air so it's not worth going 5:4 on the mem,I'd need 312fsb to get ddr500 (is this correct?)
Does this sound ok?

While I'm here, would the mem bandwidth be any better on a 291fsb system running the mem 5:4 ddr466?
I know the mem speed is only 466 instead of 500 but does the fsb affect how much bandwidth the mem gets , even on a slower ddr rating?

Learning something everyday

(p.s.) Probably will be getting a 2.8p4 ,wanted a 2.6 but I really want to crack 3.5gig and a 2.6 doesn't hack this on 250-260fsb,should I be aiming higher with my fsb and running mem 5:4,will this get me a faster real world machine?(I play a lot of games and am in a MOH clan so it must be 100% reliable)

Sorry for the long post :)

thats not long at all! liquid 3d sometimes pulls off a few thousand words in a post :p: j/k hehe

the 875/865 boards are running incredibly good in async (5:4) so not running 1:1 doesnt mean a big performence drop.
if you have the money get a 2.8, they oc higher and 1:1 is still faster than 5:4 and since your aircooling. with 260fsb+ (cl2.5 but the 875/865 dont care about that .5 anyways) you are in the 3650mhz area. that should be posible for a 2.8 on air afaik.

and if you catch a cpu with good stepping you can still go to 5:4 and up the fsb to 290 and let the memory run 230 with cl2-2-2-3 with a cpu speed of exactly 4ghz... (but you would need better cooling for that i think :p: )

i think the 2.8 is a good choice with your ram and board!
