In the sandra file system benchmarks my raid 0 setup of 2 120gig ata100 7200rpm 8mb cache WD drives score worse than 1 of those drives alone on the sandra benchmark... can anyone tell me why this is happening? i dont think that i did anything wrong. in case you were wondering i am using sata to ata converters on each drive so i can use the sata raid function but it isn't paying off... id try the promise fastrak controller on the mobo if i didn't have to erase everything and start all over again, but i heard that the performance with that controller is really bad(uses lots of cpu resources) but that was on the orig dlx i have the e version... so idk, i just wanna get this off my back... other than this i absolutely love my new rig, this is my only beef. thanks for any and all help!

A few suggestions:

First know that Sandra does a terrible time benching RAID 0 arrays. It's inconsistent and very picky about how fragmented the drive is. Running a defrag (even after a fresh install) is needed to get the best Sandra scores for a RAID 0...but even then it's a poor measure.

Get something like WinBench99 or ATTO to measure your performance.

Make sure you have your RAID array properly configured in the BIOS. Should be Enhanced Mode with IDE 3 and 4 showing as Master.

Just FYI I'm running 2 Raptors in RAID 0 on the IC7-G and I'm getting steller performance. We just need to get you squared around:)

here is my score from winbench, can you translate for me? :) Also, I ran PCMark2k2 and the HDD scores seemed ridiculously low....
