View Full Version : Phantom Feature on Asus P4C-800? No Vcore above 1.6?

the option is there in BIOS to select anything from 1.5 to 1.95, but when I select anything from 1.6 above, then it won't boot, even at default speeds, ever.
now I am not sure if this is cause of air cooling alone or something, but my air cooling is no slouch.
the northbridge has its own little fan, I have SLK-900 with AS3 and a 93mm Tornado on it, and the ram has a 80mm fan on a bracket right above that.
thats about all I can do for air cooling...

any idea where the problem lies?
or is the high Vcore options just a phantom feature?

I had a simular experience with my P4C800 too but mine worked up to 1.775 ? After that it wouldn't boot.

But I know for sure that it worked up to 1.750 cause I ran my 2.4c at that for a while.

Same for me, had the VCore up to 1.775V and it worked fine, no probs at all.
Which bios are you using?

I think it might be be a f$$king phantom, cause they have more phantoms in their BIOS'es, like no real AGP/PCI frequency tuning - it's always fixed at 66/33 :( And I have HDD's which worked fine on 46PCI on another system!!!

they have phantom memory timings on P4G8X Deluxe too, though it was fixed by one guy, by modifying BIOS.

I have the 1007 bios from the Asus website.
thats about all I used beside some original Bios that came with this board, that had a limit of 1.6 Vcore.

hmmm, thats very odd that the Vcore cant go any higher. My only thought is that its a refurburshed board, because I've never had a problem with mine.

Yeah, I've had mine to 1.775, but I'm not proud of it.:D

lol, highest I've ever gone is 1.725. I've achieved better results at lower Vcores, as it gets quite hot
