I have $1700 to work with to build up a second gaming pc.
I'm looking at something like the following:
Q6600 (g0) or E6850
DFI P35 t2rl (and a Airpace card) or Asus P5k-E-Wifi
2GB of Ballistix 8500
8800 GTX
Scythe Infinity
Vista Home Premium
Silverstone ST750
Cooler Master 960
other stuff to finish it off:
sata dvd-rw
keyboard
hdd
Mostly I'm curious as to the better choice between the cpu's and motherboards. DFI and Asus have both been fine brands for me in the past. I'm just curious if one is obviously better for overclocking, especially the Q6600 if I go that way.
The HSF can blow straight out the top of the chasis, so mounting isn't an issue as far as I can tell with the DFI heatsink.
I figure I'll be perfectly happy (for a while, anyhow) if I could get the quad to 3Ghz. Four cores for the price of two and all that. Coming off this Opteron 175 either will a screamer.
And if someone could recommend a better psu for about the same price ($149) I'd appreciate it.
Thanks much, I love reading these forums.
