This is really getting got be annoying now, ive looked everywhere and cannot find a solution to this problem.

I seem to be getting a very slow load on everything, not matter how small the program, i just get the sand timer for up to 20 seconds, and i hear the hard driver very loudly for those 20 seconds.

This is a new hard drive, and all new hardware.

Ive tried reinstalling the operating system many times over, using both xp64 and vista64, and i get the same problem on both, so ive got a hardware setting somewhere that maybe is not right.

Ive also tried reinstalling the operating system using the ahci mode in bios and the intel matrix drivers, but i still get the same slow responce.

Ive used the seagate hardrive test software, and they dont return any problems

Does anybody have any ideas?.....anything?

Is there anything in device manager that i should be looking out for so that i know the drives are configured correctly?

q6600 stock
seagate 500gb sata2 16mb
p5k deluxe wifi p35
4gb ddr2
tried both xppro64 and vista64

Yes look at the properties for your IDE Channels and make sure they are in DMA mode and not PIO.

Hi,

Ive looked under the ide channels and the primary is set to dma, but the secondary doesn't seem to be. My drives are sata, and i have no ide hardware, my dvd writer is also sata, so how does this all work?

1 sata dvd writer
2 sata 500gb hard discs
why is there only 2 sata items showing up?

and there is no settings under the intel ich port 2 or 4 sata storage controllers

thanks

Did you install the Intel Chipset Software?
