Hi guys, with me running my fsb @ 250 mhz... my mobo does 5x250 (1250) which is 250mhz over stock...
My main question is... what are the defult nb/sb volts?... mobo doesnt say just says auto..
Mobo temps run 40C load roughtly.. so nothing hot... but id like to know volts and maby put to next highest for improved stabilty/peace of mind.
Also whats the max fsb someone reached with this mobo? ive been roughtly 385fsb without going too mad with low multi

For going up to 3.3Ghz and 1000mhz+Memory i use 1.3volts on the NB.
When im Clocking ABOVE 3.5ghz-3.6ghz i use 1.32volts on the NBthe X2 5600+ and up Cores do not like to run high with the NB overvolted alot, with out heat problems or stability issues:yepp: I may even set up a water loop for my NB/SB for peace of mind

these should be stock voltages. according to nVidia
CPU to NB HT Voltage = 1.2v
NB to SB HT Voltage = 1.3v
NB Core/PCI-E Voltage = 1.2v
SB Core/PCI-E Voltage = 1.5v
gOtVlotage, are ya talking about cpu to NB voltage or NB voltage?
btw Eddie, take care, what this mobo reports as system temp AINT mobo's temp, nor NB or SB temp... its ITE's I/O chip temperature...

CPU to Northbridge is set @1.3v for under 3.3ghz . I will run 1.32v for over 3.5ghz on my Deluxe any more if its not cooled good will make some heat and become unstable....Makes shure you keep the NB cool ,because stock they are HOT:up: I slowly raise the NB one setting at a time untill system stays stable. If you go a hair too much it will let you Know because this does affect the memory controerl on the CPU!
Note: All other NB/Sb volts settings i leave @ AUTO for the Deluxe....You can set them manually but see no need, as the one that affects stability the most is CPU to NB v..

now, this is interesting information... coz im running 1.4V cpu2nb volts lol, and wondering why the heck 3.3Ghz require 1.52V on cpu lol.
I might try some lover Vcore and 1.32Vnb2cpu to see if it helps. i would be happy as never ;)

I like to keep fsb @ 250 as its nice rounded number :D this makes my mobo fsb 1250Mhz... ive set CPU-NB @ 1.35V as ive been experiencing instabilty recently... but i know my ram is fine and cpu is fine as cpu ive put down to 3ghz (12x250)... and ram is boosted from 1.9v to 2.1v @ 5-5-5-15/1000mhz
So what mobo speed u guys running @ what volts?
I.e me: 1250@1.35V (CPU-NB)
Thanks.

Seems 1.35 CPU-NB isnt enough... system shut down while running prime 95 with dual threads...
Ive now made it 1.4V ... will see if shuts down again if so

Hmmmm hows your temps....... Just curiouse try the CPU to NB@ 1.3volts and try prime....Hows your HT and memory settings.... Check your TRC if your running tight timming above 900+mhz Asus mobos like 22 to 25 on TRC;)
Note : if your running 6400 or 5300 memory unless you have D9chips 1000mhz may be pushing your memory and crashing you.. Set the memory 1 divider lower ..Instead of 800MHZ use 667MHZ and try and clock CPU more , If that works then your memory was holding you back... the next step would be to go 1 more divider on CPU lower so you can raise memory back up to sppeed once you find out whats going on:yepp:

this is starting to be interesting...
last night, me and gf drank some champagne and so on ;) then in the midle of the night i was woken up by some nasty thoughts...
"what about thinking outside of the box? what about lower tRC, not higher..."
went nuts, lowered tRC from 24 to 17 and set cpu to nb volts to 1.42V and nb core to 1.35V
amazingly it is stable at 3200 at the same core voltage as it was at 3172. before it was a no way even 1mhz higher...
i will try to slowly up it notch by notch to.. dont know. but i dont want to run the cpu at 1.55V
mind you, im using corsair 675mhz 4-4-4-12 mem, now running at 457mhz 4-4-4-12 rofl. they go to 520mhz 5-4-5-12

Your mad lol, just be carefull you dont kill your mobo or something
What chips on this ram:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-082-OC
Its the stuff ive got.. having problems working out what speeds it running...
13x250 (3250) cpu..
Divider @ 800mhz
12 multi gives /6
13 multi gives??
If 7 then 3250/7 = 464... what cpuz says... but memtest says 541... so /6???
:(

i edited my typos, lol, i still keep writing "lover" instead of "lower"
if you dont want to do some stress testing your brain by calculating mem speed, dividers and etc, try to use this tool (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=120432) its really helfull for us with slower fpu :ROTF: :ROTF:
btw, i have my NB under water, and SB cooled by full copper 7cm tall tower ;)
so i hope it will stay alive for some time
edit: trust cpu-z. not memtest. memtest is old, maybe it misscalculates the mem speed for certain cpus.
btw, my ram is all night stable in memtest at 1080mhz 5-5-5-15 2.3V but BSOD in about 1s after Win starts to load rofl, i dont trust memtest on dual core cpus. on single core it can find your max, but on X2 it doesnt stress the controler the way it should imho.
edit 2:woot, i learned to use edit button instead of doublepost

Okay cheers for link but the file doesnt work for me on vista... but ive found..
http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread.php?t=109155
Which is far more usefull :)
So indeed my ram is 930mhz... well was.. now going for 14x250 :D to make it 1000... 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1V... how many volts to get 4-4-4-15?? or not much point to stress ram that much??
Its rated 1066 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1...

strange, i have Vista32 and that tool works for me (UAC disabled). but if you find your way, its okey ;)
if i were you, i would try 4-5-5-12 @2.1V first. if not, try 2.2 or 2.3V but be sure to have some airflow over them.
it has 2.4V evp profile so it should be safe. dunno about 2.4V 24/7 use, but i use 2.3V with my corsair (rated at 1.8V lol) for more than a year with fan over them and nothing went wrong.

Currently trying to get 14x250 stable under dual super pi..
(from stock)
CPU vcore 1.6V real (+0.2)
CPU - NB 1.4V (0.2)
NB-SB 1.4V (0.1)
Didnt previously touch nb-sb but... they both controll the HT so i think both are needed more volts... since my fsb on mobo is 1250 which is alot for amd mobos i think.

Okay seems that wasnt enough, upped
CPU - NB to 1.45
NB - SB to 1.45
and Guess what that wasnt enough so decided to call it a day...
Put down to 12x250 (1.35v)... Mem @ 1000 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1V
Mobo @ 1250 - 1.325/1.300
Seems 13x250 means my mem runs slow 930mhz.. so 12x250 it is... will try get ram 4-4-4-15 @ 1000mhz... 2.2V maby or might work on 2.1 duno ;)

have you guys ever played with
CPU on-die termination
DDR termination voltage
?? what do they do??
I'm trying to figure if its possible to feed the cpu's mem controller independently of core voltage, but based on ddr voltage. it has more sense to me.
eddie can you do some benches at 3000/1000 5-5-5-x and at 3250/928 4-4-4-x
the latter should be better ;)

Only bench i can run atm with no real grapgics power is super pi and 3250vs 3000 3250 will defo win
Regarding that, im sure its just giving you the abilty to add more juice to the ram additional to the max in normal bios screen if that makes sense..
Ill try ram 930 4-4-4-15 @ 2.1v see if that works should mind
Super PI 1M
3250 1.45V/ 928- 4-4-4-15 2.1V 26.25S
3000 1.4V/ 1000 - 5-5-5-15 2.1V 28.75S
Got sub 24s but thats @ 3.5... too unstable for games would be but enough to bench super pi :D

i got 26.4s at 3198/914 4-4-4-12
you should be able to go lover than 1.4V at 3ghz.
BUT, you should try 270*12 and mem at ddr800. that vould give 1080mhz on them mem, it should handle it at 5-5-5-15 ~2.3V
any chance to run sciencemark,3Dmark06 cpu test?

Just downloaded Science Mark 2... lots of tests on it... ill just run all ?
I allways use 250fsb as its nice round number... also i think 5x270 would be too much for mobo making 1350fsb :shakes: i dont know if mobo could handle it really..
Too many choices... but atm i think its got it good with 3250 2 hours into prime 95 dual :D

About 30 mins, but then it shut down  ... seems i think it was the ram as i was warmer then usual... I think a Corsair 3x40mm Ram cooler is in order!
Ive currently got my system like so until i get graphics card then i will put side panel back on switch has a 120mm fan focussed over ram/mobo..
But ive put a fan which was bottom to the top to cool ram.. seems more stable currently 45mins into on a hot day 50C both cores ram coolish to the touch..
As you can see there is clear reason why side pannel is not one yet.. will take tube out thru the pci hole next to intake..

Hey good job, Watch your NBtemps with speed fan..... when going above 1.3v Cpu to NB..It gets hot Quik ,and Lower CPU divider Adds to that because you have to up the FSB....when i ran my 6000+ to test the HT@3000mhz my Nb would idle @35c and go up too 78c @ 24c ambiant room temps ,thats with a inside case temp of 24c...I have very good air cooling for the mobo and water for just my CPU....My 8800Gts320:yepp: is @729mhz 1726/2214 Air for 3d mode So you should like your new GTX very much:up:

These are my Final 24/7 settings, which ill keep when 8800gtx arrives..
CPU: 11x300 (3300) @ 1.475V (real)
MEM: 1100 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1V
MOBO: 1200/1.375/Auto
Temps wise... CPU idles 35 with load 45-50 depening on room temp etc.
Mobo 35C idle and 42/43C load ... without good air flow it easly heats up past 60C... but feels quite cool to the touch on nb..
BRING ON THE 8800gtx i say!, should arrive @ seller by end of week will test replace so hopefully ill get end of next week or mid week after that which is annoying but as long as it works!

Youll need to Raise the Vcore this will make the memory controller more stable:D on your X2....for some reason when the GHZ goes up .The Cores eat up the juice for the memory controller, thus requiring a hair more for higher memory freqencies to be stable ....all depends on heat too..Ive noticed that the cooler the chip is the less is required for Vcore on all three of mine...But with summer heat its give or take..
So for 3.3ghz to 3.48ghz it takes around 1.53v-1.56vcore on Decent AIR or Water . I know this because my 5600+ and the two 6000+ i own have been run on Air and unchilled water.Thats just how they like too run .... unless you have a chiller /phase or Dry ICe, F3's like lil highvoltage. @3.48ghz and 1.58vcore on water i see 50c @ room temp of 26c.......Air is lil higher
Id try 1.53vcore it will probally work just fine....Dont be surprized if you exceed 3.3ghz ....with 1000mhz on the memory ... Ive only ran my mem upto 1068mhz so far @3.48ghz and 3.51ghz... i use 2.2v for the memory ..
Check your chip manufacture recomendation for performance voltage on higher clock speeds/freqencies
P.S. go for 3.4ghz :D

well, i have few "max points" which are stable
3172@1.39Vcore
3210@1.44Vcore
3275@1.55Vcore
right now, I'm using 3172mhz, seems the best spot, the added 0.05V for 38Mhz re imho not worth it.
but its bench-able up to 3450@1.57V so I'm happy with it.
will try to start lowering Volts to mobo, ram htt to lowest point.

Temp isnt an issue as ive got two 12cm fans blowing over any hot mobo bitz..
What HT link speed u guys running @
My FSB 300 x 4 = 1200 x 2 (2400MHZ total) tied 3x300 and still unstable so mobo can handle 1200 just instabilty lies somewhere else??
2000Mhz total is stated speed for mobo (1000x2)
I had CPU 11x300 tried putting to 10x300 and still instabilty so not the CPU at fault
Ram perhaps, going to try lower speeds... but is it the thing that controlls ram the mem controller? how i get that more stable??

My PCI 9200SE is getting too hot under Vista and is causing instabilty (Would find this out when i get my 8800GTX replacment or get refund and get 2900XT... means PCI card would be removed) I.e if removed system fine then PCI card is at fault due to heat etc...
Or due to lots of reboots My Raid 0 Setup with 2x250GB WD drives has errors and causes crashes... how i fix repair with vista disk or not problem here?

Once you get the GTX:up: Hmmm make shure you have all spread spectrums disabled and that you lock the PCI-E to (101) this will give you greater stability while overclocking:up: Also do not use the PCI-E auto (Peg-LINK mode )overclocking, disable it as well....

It could be PSU related ,Check the oviouse things first,Like is the CPU NB voltage correct ?.. I wont use more than 1.3-1.32v for the NB.
Is the memory at the CORRECT volts ?
,If you reset the CMOS it may of defaulted the memory volts and now not giving you the correct Volts to run your memory...Make shure you memory is @default timing for now...
Also Make shure AI is disabled and set the HT to X5 times.
Are all the SPREAD Spectrums disabled...
Did you lock the PCI-E to 101 on both slots?
after checking those things see if it runs normal , if it dosnt then maybe i would suspect a PSU problem.
I can almost think that the PCI VideoCard could be crashing..Is the Bios set to PRIMARY DISPLAY PCI FIRST or is it set to PCI-e You want to make shure the PCI is first with a PCI card.. Now when you install the GTX make shure old drivers for the Old PCI Card are removed before the GTX is installed ..Also make shure the Bios is set to DISPLAY PRIMARY DISPLAY ADAPTER PCI-E SLOTfirst for the GTX.
Hmmm, make shure AMD LIVE and COOL N QIUET are disabled .
Last...USING a 10x or 11x CPU divider i have found is not too stable @ above 300..when using memory over 1100mhz. For some reason the Memory has a hard time Overclocking using the 10X or 11Xcpu multi with memory above 1000-1100mhz. Some thing to do with the ASUS Bios..and those multiplyers .Thats why i use a 12xCpu or higher Multi and 533 or 667memory divider. When using below 533 to get higher Memory Freqency the board just acts wierd.. the X2's dont like using the Memory /9 or higher multi'shmmm
As for the stock settings ,look at the old PCI card and maybe try some other ram or even one stick at a time...@1100mhz the ram could of failed and may be causing issues..If one stick is giving errors it can affect your @stock use too.
