Well im in the uk an i am currently looking for a new mouse and keyboard.
I currently have-
Mouse = Mx1000
K/board = Saitek Eclipse I
The reason i want to upgrade is because im getting fed up with the keyboards lights being cruddy, cant see them on the outer keys and they are not good at all. Also the mouse has been dropped a few times and is now having random fits of movement, and also lacking response to button presses.
So i have been looking on the net to find a good mouse and keyboard. Im not sure if i want to go for a corded mouse plus keyboard or get a wireless combo.
The corded mouse would be the Logitech mx518 and the Keyboard would be the Logitech G11.
I was thinking of the Logitech Mx5000 Wireless mouse + k/board combo would be a good wireless combo as they both look nice and the mouse is the one im used to using, which i love to bits. However a few reviews have stated that the mx5000 is not at all that good due to lack of support for the media keys and the fact that the mouse cuts out for a few seconds every so often.
can any one help me, i really would like a keyboard with media keys, and a good mouse as i do game often.
cheers in advanced

How much do you game? Is blazing response critical? Do you need a lot of buttons? Do you prefer an ergonomic design? Do you NEED wireless?
I am all for wireless mice and keyboards but in my testing it always adds a bit of lag, even if small.
Right now I have the Logitech LX710 and I only bought it for the keyboard. It was my favorite after typing on them all in person at Best Buy. It just feels great, has the extra buttons I want, is very lightweight and is cordless so you can bring it down to your lap, recline that chair and relax. I recommend you do the same, its impossible to get a feel by looking online and you will be spending a lot of time at this product so this is very important.
If you need blazing response I would recommend one of Logitechs corded models like the G11/G15, the Microsoft Reclusa or the Razer Tarantula.
For mice, the best Logitech has to offer is the MX518 but if you really want the best...you want the Razer Deathadder. Your best option for wireless though is going to be the Logitech G7.

If you game a lot in FPS games consider the high DPI mouses offered by Logitech and Razer. Otherwise any mouse would do for regular games. I use a Saitek PC gamer keyboard, it works fine and I can see my keys fine (mostly because of the lighting that comes from my 20.1" 4:3 1600x1200 Dell monitor :D. TBH I don't even use the blue led's on my Saitek Keyboard even though they illuminate very bright, they look cool at first but after that you get tired of them and they serve no practical purpose other than to drain your USB port's power supply, it only helps if you need to see your key positions and your monitor isn't bright enough to see the keys. People accuse me of hacking in FPS games because of my high DPI mouse :D. Precision shots at its best! But be aware, it takes a minimum of 5 months to get used to the high DPI speeds. Lots of users complain about the mouse being too sensitive, I have my Diamondback Plasma Blue Limited Edition for 2 years and I can handle this baby like nothing :p:. But yeah, basically everything boils down to what you want, speed, response, buttons, cool design, led lights, cool looking design or whatever you want it to look like.

Here's a microsoft keyboard that I found and its like the cheapest combo I've seen in a while. I already have one and it works great. Im not sure if the response time is quick enough or not but I thought you might wanna take a look at this

I've been using the G11 keyboard for a few months and I have grown quite attached to it. The keys feel really nice when typing and the lighting never fades like on some boards. I also use the Logitech MX Revolution while browsing the web and other tasks then switch over to the Razer Death Adder when gaming. I am completely happy with my place in this world:up:.

Well on Thursday night my mouse packed in, kept spazming out while playing battlefield 2142. So I ordered my new mouse and keyboard that night while using a veeeeerrryyyy old ps2 mouse (which has made me realize why i dont buy cheap mice as its crud). So hopefully Monday I'll be using my new G11 k/board and my mx518 mouse :) .
