Well, I finally decided I'm not going to wait anymore and start building a new comp.
So far I got the case (antec p182) and psu (Corsair 620hx). For the cpu i was thinking to get the core 2 quad q6600 with a tuniq tower. Is that worth it, or should i get like a core 2 duo e6750. I'll be using the comp mostly for gaming and I want to overclock it some.
For the mobo I was looking at ASUS P5W DH Deluxe Digital Home Series - but it's kind of expensive and I don't think I need all the stuff it has on it. If you have any suggestions for something better and cheaper that would be great.
For the RAM, I'm open to suggestions as I really don't know what would work best.
For the gfx card I'm wanting to get the 8800gtx, but I don't know if I should wait for the next generation cards. If the 8800gtx would be able to run UT 3 and Crysis at full specs at 1600x1200 then I wouldn't need anything extra.
Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

I think E6600 still does pretty well. I have my OC, it runs pretty powerful @ 3.6Ghz, but you should really go for the Q6600, IMO it's overall better to have 4 cores than 2 cores just to future proof (I know, there's no such thing as future proof) yourself a little and just in case you want to do some encoding later it will be better than an E6750. But overclocking a Q6600 is much harder to do because it runs super hot when overclocked. I bet E6750 will run cooler with mild overclocks. As for a motherboard, maybe you should consider a 965 Gigabyte DS3. But motherboard features is all totally up to you what you want in a motherboard, i.e. SLI, Crossfire, SATA ports only, most boards only come with one onboard IDE now (at least the Intel boards). So if you have lots of IDE devices you're going to be in for a lot of hell. As for GFX card, personally I would wait for Gen 2 DX10, it's already nearing the end of the year, hopefully the new 2950XTX's or 8900GTX or whatever you want to call them will come out as 65nm cores which will run cooler and possibly be able to overclock with DX10.1 support. DX10.1 adds some more crap, I forget what it was. Games are barely starting to use SM 3.0. Lots of rumors are going around that ATI 2900XT might run Crysis a bit better but nothing is set in stone. We won't see the true potential of 8800GTS/GTX 2900XT/512/1GB DX10 power until Crysis hits the store shelves. No one can say for certain how each card will perform. That's why I think Gen 2 DX10 will be a better buy. By then hopefully team red and team green will have this whole Vista performance drivers debacle sorted out and then we can throw a KING OF 3D Crown around.

if ur in vista the 2900xt 1gb ddr4 benches the best with drivers 7.7 and latter if its on a 975x or p35 chipset, the r600 has more rendering power than the g80 so rite now its a matter of the r600 not using the old style of aa well, but it dose maa better than the nvidia card and it supports 4/8/16x while the g80 only supports 4x maa, and the 2900xt will do teh video part of dx10.1 with all of teh currently announced features but the 8800 will not do all of it since it dosnt do 8/16x maa, adn its not fully dx10.0 it was missing some last min additions that are optional for some1 to claim dx10.0support but they will be required for 10.1 so it wont have full support
the p35 is the chipset for the quad its faster and a better ocer than the 975x go for the p5k-e (its identical to teh delux but without a heatpipe from the nb to the sb) its got all of the features of the p5w-dh but the p5w has 2 ide controllers while the p5k-e has 1, but it has more than enough sata ports to make up for it, i figured that u wanted an asus board but if u want a different brand go for the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DQ6 or an ABIT IP35 Pro (if ur in the $200-250 range then u should wait for teh x38 chipset tenativly released on sep 10)
and on memory get the Crucial Ballistix in a 2gb kit its 800mhz with micron d9 it ocs well, ive had it doing 1066 cas 4 @ 2.2V on the p5b deluxe and 2.3V on the p5k-e solid for 24hours on prime
