I've got my eyes on the Swiftech MCW30, but if there's anything better I'd like to know. Any information would be appreciated.

From my understanding, the MCW30 will be sufficient for any of today's motherboards, but there are specialized NB waterblocks that may give you better performance.
If there are no waterblocks that are specialized for your motherboard, then do not hesitate to get the MCW30. It'll work just fine.

Well - Swiftech MCW30 is a lovely block, but CERTAINTY not the best performers (it has so simple construction - no fin, no drill - just flat copper).
I love it becasuse its universality, but if You looking best performance NB block You should find something other ...

It would be nice if the manufacturers would have some kind of mobo compatibility list or if Asus would at least give us the distance between the 2 mounting holes on the P5K.

"most asus 775 boards" isn't very assuring

If you're on about EK Asus NB/SB1 blocks, yes it fits the north bridge fine but not the south bridge.

Chipsets don't dissipated a lot of heat, so complex water blocks are not needed for them. A NB block should cool fine, without harming flow much and be widely compatible being as we change boards like under wear.

The MCW30 ticks all these boxes.

Thanks. That's all I needed to hear. I've done WC of the CPU before, but never the chipset and didn't want to regret my purchase the next day when I read about something different on XS. The under wear statement was pretty true. I've had 3 boards so far this year and soon to be 4 so I guess the Swiftech will be the smart choice.

MCW30 also comes with a really nice hard mount kit, very solid mounting with that block. I'd recommend ordering some metal barbs to go with it though, I hate those plastic ones they come with, hard to work with depending on the tubing you are using.

I loVE MCW30 block, universal, easy to install, and cheap. What else you want?

I personally like the dd 680i northbridge block because it uses 4 mounts. I use the mcw30 on the sb

It is the lowest pressure drop block that exists and while yes it's flat and simple cools more than enough for any NB.

My only suggestion is go with the Petra kit, it comes with the hardmount and order some high flo barbs...the plastic barbs suck to remove tubing on later.

I vote for the MCW30, that's what I use. I recommend two things: (1) get better barbs EK barbs for example (2) use a Microcool Core Protective Rubber (http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/micoprru5pa.html) since the surface area of the MCW30 is small.

I love the way the MIPS blocks look....but I am pretty sure that the mcw30's are more free flowing...:2cents:

If you get the MCW30 get some D-tek metal barbs. They fit the recessed holes perfectly and look great. If you try and use the EK barbs you have to trim the edge off the MCW30 around the holes to get it to fit.

Just FYI
