View Full Version : Antec TruePower Quattro?
Looking to purchase the 850W TruePower Quattro by Antec since the price seems just too good to pass up right now, but I was hoping to get some idea just where abouts would it rank in the PSU Tier chart since it doesn't seem to be included currently. I already checked the review for this PSU and it seems to be very good but I planning to use it to really clock my C2Q to perhaps the 3.8-4.0 ballpark.

I had a few questions about Antec's new quattro line.
The main thing I'm interested in is the noise level. I don't have much experience with 80mm fans, but I do know how 120mm fans sound. Is the sound of a 1000W Quattro more or less than a 120mm fan at say 1500rpm?
Also what is the difference between the 850W and 1000W models? Obviously the 1000W supplies more power, but I can't seem to find out where the extra power goes. The 850W has 4x18A +12V rails, but the 1000W is also specified as having 4x18A +12V rails. That can't be right.
Thanks

The max combined output on the 12V rails is higher though I believe.

The lower the better, as in Tier 1 kicks Tier 5's ass :D But tier 3 is still very good. It's all explained in the link.

I've only owned Antec PSUs and I must say that I'm glad Antec got their act together (all the crap that has happened in the past couple of years with their psu :( ). The Last PSU I owned was an Antec 480w TB and that has lasted me 4 years and is still chugging, so my expectations of this one are very high as well and it doesn't disappoint ;)
Oke thnx Alik, its all clear now:D

You asked the same question I was wondering about. I just saw the 1000W on Antec website today and the price for it seems very reasonable as well. The difference is small enough for me to consider throwing in that extra $50 to get that little more wattage. However, as you have said, there seems to be little or no information about the spec on it and where that extra power goes. If anyone knows the actual specs please do share.

Antec 1000w
5V and 3.3V = 200w MAX
12V = 840w MAX
Antec 850w
5V and 3.3V = 180w MAX
12V = 768w MAX

I ve one and I love it, the paint finish, the modular cables, the voltage readings are real stable. I was also worried about the noise level, but I do not notice at all. Real good one Antec. :)
